Thanks for all the handwashing info. By and large I don't buy stuff that needs it but since giving up the booze my sense of smell has improved so much that woolly jumpers that live in the dark recesses of deep cupboards are, quite simply, rank (to me). A couple of them are really lovely, hand-knitted-decades-ago favourites of OH's that probably have never been washed. Some are mine that I know the colour runs faster than Roger Banister and some were the haul from CSs today and I didn't know if the colour would run. So, eighteen pieces of stuff later, I'm using one of the less butch rinse and spin cycles on the WM for some of them, a few at a time. Handwashing isn't something I'll 'volunteer' to do again, that's for sure. Still, the weather forecast for the next couple of days means that I should be able to get most of it blowing in the wind which I think it needs. My lovely bamboo pjs that were kept in the lockbox at the chalet still, after handwashing, handrinsing and then machine rinsing still smell mustily damp. Hmmmmm.

Oven cleaning tomorrow will be a breeze. Paint it on, leave it, wipe it off. Rinse. Simples. A rest day in comparison and I can feel virtuous all the way through.

    Pixie is Dot's doppleganger.
    Better is good enough.
  • handwashing woollens : Eucalan - you put a capful in a sink of water, dunk it all (so long as guaranteed no running, in which case do one by one), leave to soak for half an hour or so, wring out, hang. Ta da! done. No rinsing :D

horsepiddle was fine -ish - back in 3 months and we have twice daily ear drops for a month :(

study afternoon tomorrow so I have the morning off. :j hubby disappearing for an over night work thing tomorrow though :( much anxiety so I dare say we will not sleep well :(

Oh, and my OH not only does the loo roll atrocity, but also puts the recycling IN FRONT of the recycling cupboard - presumably for the fairies to open the door for him when he's not there......

    Absolutely! :p

As DH went out this evening, I sat down to drink a cup of coffee, and the next thing I knew it was 9.30. Oh well, only a couple of things to carry over from today's list to tomorrow's, and I'm not going to beat myself up about it. Hospital visiting this afternoon was long and emotionally draining, and I had had a very early start to the day. But I am happy that today I managed to find a birthday card (for the end of this month) and a valentine to suit DH :T

Posting my list now for tomorrow, then I can start on it straight away in the morning:
    - 2 phonecalls
    - 1 email
    - check diaries with DH and try to reach decision on summer holiday dates
    - shortlist designs and email to DS1 and DD
    - download photos from camera and email the best to DS1. DS2 and DD
    - print photo of DGC, frame and display on LR mantelpiece
    - write and print out a short letter with Christmas/January photos (one side of A4) and send to a dozen or so close friends and family, adding (very brief) handwritten personal notes
    - update DH's family tree from info in Christmas letters received, shredding letters as I finish with them => another folder of papers cleared
    - food shopping
    - evening committee meeting
    - ignore housework until Friday! - just dailies and keeping things tidy

My Toots list for January is shrinking, albeit slowly, and the piles of papers to be sorted in my study are almost at manageable levels now :)

    See you all tomorrow x

Woohoo flypeople, we have our first snow, except that actually I'm not even sure DH has got to work yet, he left at 4am. I'm assuming he's not replying to my texts as hes already there and too busy.

I make up special feed for the dogs but forgot to store it in the fridge last night as I was so tired. Really annoyed with myself this morning as I'll have to make fresh tonight and its such a waste.

Just finishing first cuppa of the day and then sort the freezer out, and some other flying.

    Have a great day everyone.

Oh just remembered we're out for a meal tonight, something to look forward to, although probably weather permitting now as we're out in the countryside.

    Ho hum...
Spend less now, work less later.

I've only ever seen in it in posh wool shops, def not @ldi/sainsbobs etc I usually get mine online when I order wool :o I'm on a severe yarn-fast at the moment (stash getting close to life-expectancy.....) otherwise I'd order some for you next time.

Hubby has been decluttered to Preston. Although we had a little snow last night its been raining this morning, thank goodness. Hopefully the trains won't be disrupted further north :( Hope your DH arrived safely Jazee This going to Preston overnight is going to be a twice monthly event from now on as he's taken over the team based there. It is very very non-ideal :( and we are a bit worried they are going to stitch him up in the future by saying the job has to move there. :( Nothing against Lancashire, its just we don't want to live there :D :rotfl:

Morning, just a quick hello before getting ready for the paid stuff.

Up a little earlier than usual due to AF playing tricks but meant I had time for an extra warm doogie cuddle.

Kitchen list mostly done last night, and DDs room was surprisingly spring cleaned when I came in yesterday but DH had done it as he was sick of the mess!

We have the loo roll thing, always plenty in the bathroom but never any by the loo when the roll is empty, staggering across the bathroom with keks round your ankles is not funny!

Better go, shower Tec is calling and lift calls at 8 so gotta crack on.

Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!
  • Morning everyone

As expected we have escaped the snow thank goodness. I hate driving in it and have a steep hill to negotiate on the way to work.

As for woollens, I have a hand wash setting on the wm so I use that. Seems to work OK. I washed the detergent drawer yesterday, it was absolutely disgusting. Must do it more often.

Mamaninie we will keep you company, I can understand you feeling a bit anxious. And poor OH, bet he is a bit worried about it all.

Pigpen she is gorgeous - and growing up fast!

Yesterday was manic - but I did manage to wash the kitchen and utility floors, doesnt it make everything look better when its got a stardrops shine on it?

So paid stuff today, both jobs. I want to spend a bit of time blitzing the office. I have realised that one of the reasons I find it hard to motivate myself to work is that my little corner of the office is very messy. I want a new chair too. Not sure how to improve things but I need to work on it.

Morning all achieved a reasonable amount yesterday but snow rain overnight meant washing left out is now all wet. More rain than snow so nothing settled.
Got DS2 orthodontist appt today so rushing round for that.
Hugs good wishes and positive vibes to all who need them, hopefully I'll have a bit more time to ad and join in and not just post and run soon.
