Enjoy your new fireplace.
Maria, you have done brilliantly with the bookshelves.
Mrs-mp, I'm glad you feel you've had a good week.
DH and I went out to the Botanical Gardens for lunch and a wander round in a bit of sunshine that quickly disappeared behind some grey cloud. Lunch (a butternut squash mini-quiche served with a poached egg on top and beetroot salad with pea shoots, plus a capuccino) was lovely, but the gardens were a bit of a disappointment - there is a better seasonal display at any time of year at our local GC owner's place, which he opens for charity every couple of monthsr. He is a hellebore specialist and has them in swathes, in every conceivable colour
Hospital visiting this evening. I took another friend from the Old Wives who talked non-stop all the way there, all the time we were with my friend, and all the way back. I am exhausted by her constant shatter. So was my friend, who shut her eyes and fell asleep for 20 minutes of the hour we spent there.
Must do QHI this evening and clear the basket (2 weeks' worth!). I said to DH "We can watch Call the Midwife on i-Player together when I get home, so you watch something else at 8 pm." So what has he been watching? Yes, CTM  so now he won't want to watch it again and I shall either have to wait until he goes out or sit upstairs at my computer. Either way it will not be a shared experience. We have few enough of those as it is

Bits and pieces achieved today.
Mr N decided he wanted to sweep the front drive; over-estimated the energy it takes but got more than half way while I pruned frantically - trying not to make more mess for him to sweep up. Lovely and sunny if chilly.
DW on, done, put away.
Finished logging training stuff on 'official' database - when I renewed my last certificate 3 yrs ago another database was used so not much consistency/continuity there. Just need to have a final check through my 'sample' report which has to be submitted as well, then grit teeth, pay vast sums of money and send it off for renewal. At last week's training, they told us that about 50% of people got through 1st time so it will be nail-biting.
House looking pretty clean and tidy apart from my office (nothing new there then). Quite a busy week of work planned, so will fly as and when.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0 -
Think ds1 might be angling for a day off tomorrow. He has a mysterious tummy ache even though he has had a good tea and has just eaten an Apple and a jam sandwich without any problems. Wonder what that's all about.
Ah well Monday tomorrow. Lots of paid stuff this week as ever so flying when I can.
Fingers crossed narco!0 -
