suspect tescomobile sent me a fake phone
Options
i signed up with a tesco mobile contract with a Mootorola Moto E phone.
Tried to get it insured but the IMEI number on the box and phone says its a Alcatel OT E805, so cant get it insured, checked IMEI number with a few sites and all come up with it being an Alcatel OT E805 apart from http://www.imei.info/?imei=353318062265805 which says its a Samsung E490.
yes the IMEI number is correct on the box and in the phone, so all i can think as the IMEI does not match the phone then the phone is a fake

I don't think that it makes any sense to manufacture fake Moto E because they are so cheap.
Neither I think it makes any sense to insure it, but I would contact Tesco and/or Motorola to see what they say.0 -

insurance will cover accidental damage, unauthorised calls etc, i can get it really cheap as i have various gadgets insured. i have emailed Tesco mobile as their live chat is not showing0 -
now managed to get on live chat i have to call their Handset Support team which will be 20p per minutes from tesco mobile phone0

Have you got a landline with inclusive minutes? If so try 0345 301 4455.
Failing that take it to a store with Tesco Mobile in it.0 -
You seem to be jinxed when it comes to mobile phones.
i was fine for 12 months until My Blackberry Z10 played up and got a PAYG from EE so i could continue Orange contract.
All tesco mobile chat was saying is they could insure it for £6.99 a month other than that spend 20p per minute to call their handset support.0 -
I really wouldn't bother insuring a moto e for £7/month. Just put a pin lock on the sim then phone up to get the sim cancelled if it's stolen.0

its to go onto the list for home insurance and with my bank, but because the IMEI number is not bringing up the correct phone they cant add it0 -
Is this the same contract with the mysterious disappearing minutes even before they sent you the phone?
If so, it seems either you're desperately unlucky, or the whole transaction is fouled up. I'd be escalating this right up the food chain to the chief exec.0 -
