Thought it would do it this time as I got as far as entering my password after an age but then there was only a mandatory field button greyed out with an x and no next button to move to the next page. Retrying it just ended up with a this page can not be displayed sign.

I should get a life but I have visions of staying awake till the early hours trying to get it sorted!

Been through all of that. I finally did it in Firefox.
If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.

Just got it done for both bonds for my Mum, no hassles whatsoever and a much better rate than her ISA
  • I have just managed both for me. It was a bit slow but not too bad given what had been happening earlier today. I don't usually use Firefox, but having read some of the recent posts on this thread recommending that browser that's what I used for this job.

This is pathetic by NS&I. Been trying all day to get on line, latest wheeze is an error saying NI number is already in use!

Have cleared cookies and still get this error.

Been on the alternative phone number for over half an hour.

Giving up and going to bed!

Is it worth all the hassle for a bit of extra interest.

    For some, no.
    For many, yes.

Actually for those that would like the 4% rate and instant access why not open a Lloyds Clubs account at 4% for a sole account and a joint account total £10,000 and also the regular saver also at 4% then also a TSB account giving 5%. Total £4000 for two accounts. After that then the bond is a good idea !

I got to the final bank payment bit when it asked for my three digits of my bank password for online payments. Entered these and after a couple of minutes got a System 500 error from NS&I

I have no idea if my funds have been reserved, claimed, or account opened...

    So annoying

I think they must be staggering their email announcements or have lost the records altogether because I registered to receive their email announcement weeks ago but I've not had one yet.

Got my email in the early hours of today. I bought yesterday!

    Hi,

well here's the good news for all you frantic folk who [STRIKE]spent hours[/STRIKE] wasted time yesterday trying to buy bonds,

A spokeswoman for NS&I said: "This has been an extremely popular launch... So far, £270 million has been invested in 26,000 sales.

"This is out of a total pot of £10 billion, the largest UK retail bond ever, so there's plenty more available.

So there's still £9.973 billion still available, amazing after all the herd panic yesterday.

Oh, and the web site if working fine this morning.
