No it isn't! - I waded through all the security questions & finally got to enter my debit card number & it said it had been declined by my bank & to ring them. So I did & they said it hadn't been declined & they'd had hundreds ring up with the same complaint & that it was a fault with the website!
It didn't retain any of my data I'd input during the lengthy registration process either ........ only in England!0 -
Mixed messages from NS&I - my application eventually was accepted online but failed to produce a reference number, so I got through to NS&I on the special number given above in the forum and was told if my nominated bank account has been debited (which it has) I should get a confirming email in 24 hours with a reference. I hope this is accurate! All the information on the previous application pages agreed with my existing registration so it should be possible for NS&I to link it up.
Thanks Kittie for your response too. I did not use the special number to place my application and was not asked for any bank details over the phone. I agree about the danger of scammers.
Have you heard anything? I haven't.Take my advice at your peril.0 -

I got to the final bank payment bit when it asked for my three digits of my bank password for online payments. Entered these and after a couple of minutes got a System 500 error from NS&I
I have no idea if my funds have been reserved, claimed, or account opened...
So annoying
Similar thing happened to me (helping my father apply). Got right through to payment page, entered debit card info, completed the Verified by Visa page then got Internal Server error.
Any idea if the application has gone through or do we need to start again? Father doesn't have internet banking so we can't easily check if his account has been debited.0 -

I thought I was lucky at about 7.45 this morning, website quite quick, went through the lengthy application til I got to pay. It got to the Mastercard version of the Verified by Visa when it was declined, the reason given was " cardholder not present":mad:0 -

It probably has not gone through. I spent 5 hours yesterday applying, speaking to NS&I and my bank.
This what I have learned. Your payment has probably left your bank account waiting for NS&I to claim it. If you cancel the transaction (which is difficult and possibly impossible) and reapply, you will find that your money for the first transaction is in limbo but if for any reason NS&I claim this money you will be liable for two sets of payments ( ie from the first and second applications) which could either lead the second transaction to be rejected through lack of funds or take you into an overdraft scenario with attendant charges.
My bank advised me to wait 5 clear days and if the money has not been claimed by NS&I then the money will revert to your account.
As for NS&I after several telephone conversations, and following consultation with a manager, they advised me that if I have not received a reference number the transaction cannot be traced. However, there were elements of doubt so I have decided to leave it until the money reverts to my account next Thursday.Take my advice at your peril.0 -
2 different bank accounts, different banks. I received the e mail with ref numbers for both applications. Both banks are pending the 20k ie money available is minus the 20k, so waiting now to see what next and assuming that the process is going ahead. NBG, check to see what is available, could be like mine0

Thanks all.
So if father checks with his bank and asks if money is 'pending' (i.e. noted as 'not available') he should wait 5 days. If the money is NOT 'pending' then the application has failed?
We have decided that if we need to apply again it will be by post.0
