After a failed attempt at payment (Bank declined, spoke to fraud department and all okayed in 5 mins), resubmitted application and received confirmation email with debit card transaction on at 0825 yesterday morning. However, more than 24 hours later my cash is still languishing at my bank pending / not available!
Assume they'll take it when they're ready to n in any case my 4% started yesterday!

I was accepted yesterday and received the email with the reference number but notice my money is still in my bank..is this how it works for most people ? Re-checked and notice that the money is pending so presumably checks being carried out. Checks must have been done as money now taken from account !

Still having problems!

Our call centres are open 24/7 and we expect the Bonds to be on sale for months rather than weeks.

best leave it for a few days I think.

Exactly the same for me as GTerr quoted in #141.
Got the Verified by Visa page then internal Server Error. No confirming email but the cash out is showing as pending on the online bank statement. Who knows whether the transaction has actually gone through!! Will wait and see.

Similar here. Was so pleased to get further early this morning, entered card details and clicked to confirm then verified by visa just kept spinning and timed out. I tried again later and when it came to the amount it said I was only able to add £0.00 so I presumed the previous one had gone through.


However no email confirmation and money still in bank so trying to phone NS&I to check whether it went through or not and if not why I can't re-apply.

Out of interest, I logged on to NSANDI this morning. My Bond bought yesterday (Thurs 15th) is showing, also details of the transaction.

means on the NS&I website while trying to buy these bonds?

For anyone trying to apply I would suggest doing so at quiet times of the day/night, e.g. midnight to 6am, when there are fewer users and their under-resourced system can cope without problems.

Got through on the phone to ask about error - NI number already in use. Seem I have an old £1 premium bond from the 70s in the system and so cannot apply on line or phone without first having to register by post!!

Decided to use a postal application, After eventually locating the form on their site and downloading it it would not print the headers on the form. Tried converting to FOXIT and eventually got it printed.

Nowhere does it say who the cheque is to be payable to so took a chance with just 'NS&I'

I have never come across such an organisation such as this. Makes me think they'd be a good candidate for our international security, I figure even ISIL would give up on it!!

Goodness knows when people come to getting money back out how that will pan out.

Maybe my postal application will go through, who knows, I can't bear any more hassle with this.

Just managed to get a real person on the 01253.... number (far) above.
The error message is a result of their (NS&I) system overload.
Recommendation is to download Application Form from NS&I site and fill it in (one per bond) and then post it with a cheque (again, one per bond).
Form says cheque payable to 'National Savings and Investments'.
