Everyone need to keep hitting F5, and use multiple browser windows. That's bound to help.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -
Identical to my situation - don't worry it will all happen OK.
Not acccording to NS&I. Apparently if the system did not provide you with a reference number after the payment process the transaction cannot be traced. They advised me to cancel the transaction and start again. Apparently there are many in the same boat. The bank has told me this can't be done in a practical sense but after 5 days, if the money has not been claimed by NS&I, the money will revert to my account.Take my advice at your peril.0 -

500,000 is probably less than 5% of pensioners.
£20k does not sound unreasonable for a prudent retired couple.0 -
frugalmacdugal says "no reason to panic"

The figures quoted on R4 Today this morning was "...500,000 out of 11 million who are eligible to apply" So yes, less than 5% of people over 65 (assuming the first half million max out both versions of the bond)
Probably sensible not to panic but with all the hype in the press about what a good deal it is and the limited amount for sale it's not at all surprising that the public wanted to get in while it is available.0 -
Can you pay 2 x £10000 on a debit card in one day or is there a daily limit?0

Lol I had a 'go' this afternoon and after a frustrating wait got nowhere!
Might have another go in a couple of days time when the panic is over.
NS are saying they should be on sale for months.
If I miss out it's not the end of the world.0
