    Hi,

    yes,

The government-backed savings institution will be offering £10billion of specialist Pensioner Bonds

That's enough for 1 million people to invest, save, buy a £10,000 bond each

I thought Id try again having been out for a while. This time , I clicked on apply , it asked what bond I wanted, took address etc , asked for number attached to NSI stuff I already have. Filled that in , and it came up with a page saying thanks ,

print off and sign the form and we will send you your registration number in the post
Once we've processed your registration form, we'll post you a temporary password and NS&I number.
For your security you'll receive them separately – when they arrive, you can use them straight away.

Thank you for registering for the NS&I online and phone service.
I thought you didnt need to register in advance once you had signed up for the advance email alert?

Looks like at the rate they are working, I may not even get those details for weeks! Id expected to apply and sign up at the same time and give my bank details online , and them to be able to take the money when they processed the opening of the bond I was applying for.

My bank balance has been reduced by £10000 but still have not received an e mail confirmation for an application made this morning. I think I was fobbed off by NS&I when I was told to wait 24 hrs when I asked whether my application had been successful.
Take my advice at your peril.

I was given a (very long) alphanumeric reference number when I paid (Debit card) Also reference number was in the confirmation email.

Did not have that. The system crashed during the Barclays Secure stage but the money has left my account nonetheless. The bank has confirmed the payment was to NS&I.

Just called NSANDI on 01253840007, got straight through to "Joanne"
She sold me 10k bond, no problem. AMAZED !!

Had to use my security details though. Plus she asked where I got her number (Say no to 0870)

Thanks for that. After wasting far too much time on the web site and the engaged 0500 500 000 number I tried 01253840007 and got answered immediately.

Quite straightforward to answer the security questions (I did have to think to remeber my NI number) and deal concluded in just a few minutes.

I was a little cautious taking a number from a forum and potentially giving someone 10K from my bank account but he did give me a piece of my personal data that a scammer would not have had.

Identical to my situation - don't worry it will all happen OK.
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....

Glad to have helped. Anyone else cautious about the number. I got it by searching for a NSANDI number on saynoto0870.com
