My experience so with First Trust Bank is pretty poor.
1st Attempt - They typed my surname incorrectly.
2nd Attempt - despite confirming it again and again they typed my first name incorrectly.
Because of this I failed ID check. Both searches appeared on my Equifax credit report.
Will try again in the future if offer exist.

Hmmmm thats a bit strange that the call staff seem to have entered details incorrectly for, at least, a couple of non Northern Ireland residents?0
-
I'd like to fleece this offer too. Anyone actually had a smooth experience? I can't see anywhere on the website about it being only for NI residents?0
-
I'm also curious, has anyone successfully taken advantage of this offer?Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

I think I might give this one a miss... Seems like it would be better use of my time to go through the hassle of opening an additional Yorkshire/Clyde... account (gain £150) rather than have call center advisors "mis-type" my name for reasons best known to them all for £25 less.£47605.33 outstanding in C.C (£8000 Interest free till January 2025)0

That was my idea aswel. At the moment most of my accounts are being used to transfer over to YB. Once its all over and if offer still exist hopefully I will try again.0 -

Last year I applied online but before they would complete the application they wanted a solicitors signature on the application form. I think this was to confirm that they had witnessed me signing the form and that they had seen my passport.
I also bank with Natwest in England, so maybe they just didn't like me!
I think for historic reasons banks in NI are a lot more worried about money laundering - hence possibly the much tighter checks.0 -

With this bank it all seems very random - some English residents being accepted without question by phone and some NI residents being told they must go into a branch because you can only open an account in branch.
Have First Trust outsourced their account opening call centre to Yorkshire/Clydesdale banks.:D0
