I was told it has to be in person.

Been told this afternoon they only accept NI residents. He asked me straight away whether I was an NI resident before I could even give him my full name. I said there was nothing in their published terms that said the account was only open to resident of NI but he kept saying he was no authorised to process applications for people who where not residents. My request to speak to a Manager was stonewalled with "I'm sorry, our Managers are in a meeting this afternoon".

Might try again tomorrow with another operative.
  • Any further England residents had any success on this?

having failed ID search (?), documents MUST be presented in person (post is no good) and cannot be at an AIB branch

    ???
  • I've successfully applied over the phone.

The account is set up as they gave me my sort code and acc number and took details of the account I wish to switch.

    I'm resident in England.

Not managed to contact them yet - They are only open between 9-5.

Have you checked which CRA have they used?

If I had some weekdays off I would actually go to NI to apply

Smart use of Avios, especially free domestic addons and low fares departing Dublin would make the trip cost effectively about £50.

I'm spending £25 to drive to my nearest Yorkshire Bank branch... can probably make it back by raiding all the Tescos along the way for gift cards
