Any more reports on switching to this one? I'm calling them today to look at switching.

All I'm going to say is...

    ...good luck.

Another fail here when I've never been failed for anything before.

The operator oozed negativity from the outset and the outcome was that I would have to produce my documents in branch.

I felt he was speaking deliberately quickly in a heavy accent so I couldn't understand a word he was saying.

If I could do an Irish accent and do it without getting the giggles, I'd quite like to have another go and see if I get a different reaction.

Thank you - that did make me smile
  • I'm in NI and going to try this (once I get my donor account set up!), but am new to the whole 'switching' thing. Am I right in thinking, the £1,200 I put in, doesn't have to be my salary, and there is no requirement to change DDs to the plus account to avail of this offer? Thanks.

Your hesitancy is understandable, but with these switching incentives it's just as important to check what is NOT stipulated as it is to check what IS stipulated.

So, if you can't see a requirement for salary then there isn't one. Likewise, if you can't see a requirement for DDs (or anything else for that matter) then there isn't one.

All you are required to do is open an account with First Trust, switch in another account, pay in £1200 and stay in credit – and you will get your £125 incentive within one month of the switch completing. If you want to keep the account open after that you keep having to pay £1200 a month in – but that won’t affect your £125 payment.

They have 30 branches across NI – although most are in and around Belfast.

If you live in NI I would prioritise this over YB/CB – as it could be withdrawn at any time whereas we expect from all the evidence the YB/CB offer to continue until late 28 March.
  • Brilliant, thanks for the clarification.

So if I don't care about using the account, can I just withdraw the £1200 after the £125 is paid? Sorry, as I said, new to all this, and want to make sure it's all clear in my mind before starting the process!

You can withdraw the £1200 the day after you have paid it in - its meant to be used as a current account after all!:D You merely have to pay at least £1200 in a month.

However given they seem a bit fussy/prickly I would use the account for the first month until you get your £125 e.g. for shopping, paying your credit card bill etc. You would have to pay those anyway - so why not use your new account. You can then decide if you like them - or want to move it elsewhere!
