Have a look at cutting down your carbs. If you look at low carb eating, one of the benefits is that you lose weight from around your stomach which doctors say is the most dangerous place to be carrying weight.

Thanks Slinky. I tried low carbing, but found it very difficult and found myself craving terribly, then binging on bread.

I prefer a reasonably balanced diet with sensibly restricted carbs and fat, increased vegetables and fruit. I realise my body shape is the most dangerous type but my doctor is pleased with my progress.

Hi MeandO, I struggle in the evenings too. My default mode was just to eat and eat until I couldn't eat any more. Now I often manage to have just my dinner and stop, but I do still sometimes find myself in the kitchen wondering how I got there!

I like fish portions in sauce (about 100 to 150 calories per portion depending on who makes them) with heaps of veggies for dinner when I need to just do something in a few minutes.

Hi jpscloud, I know what you mean about finding yourself in the kitchen', I was the same last night and just ate stuff I shouldn't have for most of the evening.

Tonight I'm battling with the knowledge that there's chocolate penguins in the cupboard (for my DS!) but I KNOW they're there! lol. I'm being strong though, and am not going to tuck into them.

So, today I used 32/33 of my points, and have already planed my meals for tomorrow. The veggie and quark omelette was lovely and really filling, so that might become a firm favourite for a quick and easy dinner for one. :)

It's my weigh in day tomorrow, but as I've only been back on plan for 1 day I'm not expecting a loss. Still, I shall post it on here as this is a fresh start and all...

I cant eat a lot of fish, but do like those fish portions, so that is a great idea, thank you!

    Day 114, 37 points.

Welcome MeandO it is great to have you along.

When I worked full time and lived in two places I could have written your post, there was just no time. The only difference for me this time is that I live and work in one place, bliss, and I have got much better organised and I plan what I will eat ahead of time for the whole week. If you have a freezer then cook up and freeze food getting it out in the morning and just bung it in the oven in the evening. Or you could do the ready meals route and serve with piles of vegetables. The WW meals are not all that great but some are OK and they are often in Poundland. The M&S or Waitrose ones are lovely but pricey if they are ever in the reduced cabinet I buy them up and freeze them for the inevitable day when my planning breaks down. I do the fish in sauce route pretty regularly too.

I also stopped eating in the evening by sewing, knitting, pottering in the greenhouse or doing something where eating just isn't possible at the same time. And very sadly about once a week if I am hungry I just go to bed early and watch TV, which is a guilty pleasure!

jps, I like you am trying to eat a balanced diet and learn portion sizes. I don't want to be "dieting" for ever so I need to learn how to eat properly. I do think that portion size for carbs and protein is the key if I can get them properly balanced that should be a good habit for life.

I am doing the winter to summer clothes swap this week-end and everything left that is size 20 and above is off to the charity shop - then there is no going back.

Thank you tootallulah, I really do need to start batch cooking more and I may just get a few ready meals in for the nights when I really can't be bothered and throw some veg with them. Thank you. :)
I'm newly separated (thankfully, extremely amicably!) and still getting used to being in this house as the only adult, so I'm hoping I'll fall into an evening routine soon which doesn't feel quite so strange.

Good news though... I'm amazed to say I've lost another 1.5lb this week! :j so that's 7.5lbs in total now. Onwards and upwards from here on!

    Have a lovely day all

Morning, have just found your wonderful thread & skim read through it. Well done for all the losses.

I started WW at the begininnig of april & was doing very well, lost 5lbs in 2 weeks but this weekend was my birthday & I had to go away for 4 days to a funeral so I went off track for a while. I am not sure I wil lose this week. I didn't WI last week as I was away so that's 2 weeks off track but I am back on it again since Monday & it works so well for me.

I have done low carb, high fat, paleo, atkins blah blah, you name it I've done it. I lost 106lbs 7 years ago & basically starved myself to do it. I then had to gain 6 stone (85lbs) under medical advisement as I had malnutrition & anemia. I have since lost 40lbs in the past 2 years, slowly & safely & with help from WW hope to lose another 64 this year or by next.

My biggest issue is binge eating, I do well all day then ruin it in the night by binging from about 8.30 till 9. I am trying to distract myself during these times by doing other things & am doing ok so far, not great, baby steps & all but it is getting better.

Hope you don't mind me joining, I find group support helps me loads.

Oh I forgot to mention, I am very into slow cooker freezer meals, where you bag up all the raw ingredients & freeze them, then just defrost & cook. Its a form of batch cooking just instead of cooking & freezing, you freeze then cook.

I have a 7 yo ds & work full time & find this helps me greatly. I have adapted many to work as "healthy" foods & just change pasta, rice or mash for cauliflower rice, salad, steamed veg or courgette spaghetti.

If anyone wants some well tested family staple recipes please let me know.

    Hi quidsy,

I love the sound of your slow cooker freezer meals, what a fabulous idea!

I'm struggling with knowing what to eat in the evenings and can also be prone to binge eating at times, particularly when I'm down/depressed/bored etc. It really is a horrible vicious circle to be trapped in. I'm not as bad as I used to be, but I do still have to fight it, so I feel your pain.

I'd love a few of your recipes if you have the time to post them, that would be wonderful! My Ds is 4 and a very fussy eater (stems from a digestion problem when he was a baby, ie. food & drinnk equalled pain :( but that's another story).

Best of luck with your journey, the support on here already has seen me through yesterday!

Well done MeandO, over half a stone gone is great, and welcome quidsy - the freezer cooking sounds like a fab idea.
I am doing the winter to summer clothes swap this week-end and everything left that is size 20 and above is off to the charity shop - then there is no going back.

I did that when I lost weight before and have found that it really helps - I think that all of my summer clothes being uncomfortably tight and having nothing in a size up was very good motivation to start counting points again!!

It's also reminded me that I really must sort out the bags of clothes I need to put on ebay (when I took loads to the charity shop I was being tight and couldn't bring myself to throw out gorgeous, and not particularly cheap, dresses which I'd only worn once or twice)
