RTC whilst on driving lesson

Would it be worth reporting the accident (and the driving school's lack of co-operation) to the police in the hope that they can provide you with the details of the relevant insurance company...?
Somebody else asked me this too because apparently as an injury RTC it should have been reported anyway.
Not sure what the time limit etc is though because it was nearly 3mths ago now.0 -

I have emailed our local pc for some advice.
Maybe it is not in their remit but I won't know until they respond.
Thank you for all of the advice anyway, it has given us a few avenues to pursue0 -
If all efforts to communicate with the instructor fail, you should complain about him to the Registrar at the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (0330 200 11 22).
Maybe the threat of doing so might make the school more co-operative.0 -
I thought in an RTC you legally do have the right to the other drivers details? Maybe i am wonrg then?
You have solicitors working on this - what do they say your options are?0 -

Added - actually if your son was driving and was the only person injured, only the other driver has a duty to report it. For some reason I had it in my head that the instructor was driving and your son was a passanger - which shows how long it is since I had a driving lesson.0 -
The law imposes a duty on the other driver to give his own details (if asked) to anyone with reasonable grounds for needing them - but that's not much use if he's already skidaddled you can't find him. AFAIK it doesn't impose a duty on anybody else who might have the other driver's details to give you them.

They have just been sending repeated letters. They havent really told me about any further steps they can or might take yet.0 -
We dont have any forms or information like you quote from the driving school.
As for sticking my nose in then yes, my son is just 17 and lives at home so it is part of my responsibilty. Maybe he isnt like some 17yr old you know, but they are all different and have variable needs.
You won't or may not get one from the driving school, it will be from the insurance company. My daughter is 17 (although she thinks she's 27) .0 -
I smell a rat TBH. Is the instructer part of a larger concern or is he an independent instructor? Is he DOT registered? Is he actually a certified QDI?
If he is an independent and not registered with the DOT then there is a chance he might not be a QDI either. If this is the case he might not be properly insured and therefore may be reluctant to forward any information that has a chance of incriminating himself.
MIB will reveal the type of insurance he has.0 -

Should of been reported within 24 hours I believe if A) there's an injury andIf drivers details havn't been exchanged. In fact if there's an apparent injury at the time then the police should of been called straight away.
I would still be talking to the police even though it was 3 months ago. Something ain't right here.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0
