OP-give your tenants the required (and valid) notice and once this is done move back in to your home and away from this bloke. It doesn't matter whether this video is 5 years or 5 minutes old-it's the fact that he has kept it. He is not committed so move out once all is sorted with your house and then move on!
BTW, well done for having the common sense to keep your house.

If someone takes time to make a video (of anything) why delete it?
I agree, he is not into the OP as much as she had hoped, this can and does happen whether the bloke has videos on his handset or pc or not.0 -

Heh heh, they were not an ex at the time, no wonder my GF left me, she complained "how come you don't make love to me like they do in the movies?"
It seems after spitting on her, slapping her cheeks, generally treating her like a piece of meat and then a happy ending across her face, we concluded we both watch different kind of movies0 -

Thought I'd clear a couple of things up- it's an iPhone and it shows the date time and place and he was wearing a distinctive jumper! Yes that's right only his bottom half was on show!! He took the video as he was (sorry if a bit graphic) doggy style, he kept a steady hand! I have sent myself a copy but wouldn't dream of sending it viral, not my style, I'm trying to be calm and rational. Today I spoke to a trusted friend and together we worded a text to my tenant. Tenant is a friend of a friend so it's a pretty informal arrangement I let her have pets when no one else would so it's been a pretty good set up for her. She replied and told me that she's put an offer in on a house to buy and was hoping to be out by end of Feb as its a new build. I'm feeling relieved to have got the ball rolling but am a little apprehensive about starting again mid 40sthanks again everyone, just wanted to confirm I wasn't over reacting!

The other woman is NOT an ex. He's either still having sex with her, or he's got a video of them both for some other reason. The last thing I would ever want to keep on my phone would be a raunchy video of an ex, and I expect most people who had moved on from a relationship would think the same.left the forum due to trolling/other nonsense

Well done Op I'm not sure how formal your agreement is with your tenant but I would look up the details and arrange to serve them with a s21 notice which takes 2 months to expire. You can always explain to your tenant why you need to be this formal but in case there are delays with the new build - which is not uncommon you need to protect your own position here. Good luck - horrible start to the new year but onwards and upwards.0

Video cameras have anti shake features that work well.
Why torture yourself with having a copy of the video footage?
Anyways 40s is not an age to worry about, it has it's advantages with being established financially and possibly grown up offspring.
Just as an aside, he may already know you have a copy as the mms will show on the bill (if the file is small enough to send) , my phone still shows in the notification that a file transfer via bluetooth or other means was succesful).0 -
I sent myself a copy just to be sure I wasn't imagining it!
If I had have chosen to confront him he would deny it, also thought I might look at it now and then just to prove I've made the right decision in leaving him, don't know really my mind was in turmoil at the time!
He's not very savvy when it comes to technology I'm pretty sure he will be none the wiser.0
