I don't have a car but I hate renewals of all utilities and insurances, passionately. Totally with you on this.2023: the year I get to buy a car3

See I must be really sad but I’m looking forward to renewal this year. A claim falls off this year (rolled into the back of someone at 0.5 mph and they milked it for all its worth) so it should go down to an amount I can pay off annually for the first time ever! We’ll see though 🤞🏼XMortgage started August 2020 £69,700

I also hate car insce renewals - very topical for me, as my renewal date is May 1st. If you only had to do one comparison site, that would be fair enough (like in the old days, going into a brokers and asking them to find the cheapest deal) - but you have to do a couple and then the sites that aren't on the comparison sites - and then check cashback deals.... frankly it's exhausting!
- and sometimes for not much value!

I have gone to a broker for my house insurance this year (saved £60) and will be inviting them to get me deals for all vehicles as they were so pleasant.
It was a bit like going to a spa for a day and being pampered, compared to the shovelling stuff of comparisons. If it is good value, I will stay with them as the service counts for quite a lot for me (and it puts a little money into a local business and jobs for real people). Sooo it’s a big day tomorrow. Cant even remember where I’d got to on here but we have offers on two houses currently.House 1 - best and final offers in. Decision to be advised fairly early tomorrow. This would see us mortgage free with £23k in the bank. Our preferred location and the heart choice. House is listed though and we are unsure how much we can do what we need to to the house to make it workable.House 2 - asking price offer in but we are trying to get it agreed before another 7 viewings take place this week which will lead to a bidding war I’m sure. We may call and up our offer by 3- 5k tomorrow morning first thing if it means it comes off the market before viewings. This would leave us mortgage free but no cash left over from the process. We will go up to £10k over asking after looking at sold prices in the area. Using savings we could still be mortgage free. This is the more sensible house and the head choice. Both houses will reduce monthly living costs in terms of council tax and fuel bills. Both need similar work doing in terms of renewing the heating and a bit of jiggling the room layouts but nothing major. If neither comes off, we need to decide whether we carry on even trying to move. I’ve never known a housing market like this.DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

Not much focus here this morning….
Offer for house 1 being withdrawn this morning. DH went for a drive around yesterday at both houses and isn’t happy with house 1 so no point pursuing that.We will sit tight and wait to hear of the decision on house 2.*strums fingers*
