    Hello everybody,

Happy Birthday Annie & PoshPaws

Had a lovely day yesterday. Went to the markets in the morning where we got fruit, veggies & more plants. :D Went to friends for lunch and the afternoon. DH told them last week that I became a vegetarian a few months ago and he has become one too. Anyhoo they decided to make a special lunch for us. Curried chicken & rice.  :D Oh well. The thought was there.

Today been busy doing the house out & out in the garden. DH starts work tomorrow. It will be quite odd being home alone. We have been together every day for practically 10 months now. I'll probably be walking around like a lost sheep. I use to be like this when the kids went back to school. :D

Hope you all have a nice day and the weather sounds promising. Byeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Good morning chums and a very Happy Birthday to Poshpaws and Anniestar
 :bdaycake: :bdaycake:  and anyone else who is celebrating today
Well guys the sun is shining and the sky is blue and long may it last I am going up to Barnehurst just outside London today for the day to visit my DD's in-laws .
DD and family are in Devon for a week, so I said I would visit them as they like to see a cheerful face, they don't get around as well as they used to. He's 77 and shes 71.So we will sit and chew the fat all day and eat far too many cream cakes and laugh a lot about how absurd life has become and how much it has changed since we were young.;)

As I said on yesterday's post, I had a great time walking around Covent Garden, although I found that the mixture of smells a bit odd. When you walk past a soap shop the smells emenating from there are wonderful ,then you walk a little further and suddenly your nose is taken by something quite different .
I wondered if perhaps the local coulcil in their wisdom decided to spray the drain covers with a bit of 'eau de 18th century drain'. It smelt very whiffy, and it seemed to come from all of the draincovers in the area .Perhaps it is meant to add atmosphere, and an ambience to the surroundings .I'm surprised there wern't a few dollops of horse dung around as well:eek:
It smelt like very old smelly veggies to me .But luckily there were quite a lot of lavender stalls around which helped to overcome it .I can see how people would have posies of flowers under their noses back then, I bet the lavender girls were very popular on warm days .:rotfl:
The street performers were excellent and very entertaining. :j
We had a walk through the vestibule of the Royal Opera House and looked at the posters .There were quite a few queues for tickets .Mostly it seemed of large German men wearing leather shorts with HUGE thighs (Memo;must remember to stop looking at men with huge thighs at my age:eek: ), also it seemed there were quite a lot of even larger Americans with their wives, and lumpy children queing for seats .The lumpy children looked totally bored, and not in the least bit interested in hearing 'the fat lady sing' at all;)
I wonder why as British tax-payers subsidise the opera so few english people actually seem to want go .I guess it is a way of bringing in the tourists to London, but if the ticket prices had been a bit lower I wouldn't have minded going. I know very little about opera but I assume as it's been around for so long there must be something good about it .It interests me to find out what .I do enjoy light classical music and I am open minded enough to try something different ,but not at those prices though. I suppose its perhaps because its very expensive to stage with all the costumes ect.ah well I can always listen to a cd.
On the bus back to Victoria Station I noticed that Red Ken's ideas on reducing the congestion in my fair city doesn't seem to be working .There is the most awful congestion in Leicester Square with those darned three wheeler bikes.I know he wants Londoners to get out of their cars and onto their bikes but it just isn't practical as London isn't Amsterdamn .You can tell I am an ex-taxi driver can't you.:D
We saw some great sights on Saturday and there is no doubt that people watching from a pavement cafe is the greatest free entertainment in London. My sis-in-law doesn't know London very well as she was brought up in Oxfordshire so she really enjoyed herself .Her eyebrows were going up and down like a fiddlers elbow at times .:rotfl:
Coming down Whitehall on the bus I was pointing out various things to her of interest. She didn't realise that you could no longer walk up to No 10. or even walk into Downing street anymore . Whitehall itself is one of the most beautifull streets in London .When you get to the bottom and on your left you have Big Ben, and on the right Winston Churchill, still not turning his back on Parliament as he promised.
It makes you feel quite proud to be British. (Churchill I discovered, by way of my genealogical researches is a very distant relative about ten generations back and across. My husbands GT, Gt, Grandfather was married in St Martins-in-the Fields in Trafalgar Square, in the mid 19th century He was a Churchill from Woodstock .Not the big house though, one of the slightly poorer relations I think .The Churchills fortunes seemd to fluctuate over the years .Never trickled down to us at all though.)
If you ever get the chance to come to see our lovely capital use the No 24 bus it takes you to almost all the main sights of London for £2.00 far cheaper than the £20.00 plus that the tourist buses charge.
OS wins through in the end .Well guys it's time I got a wriggle on and had my coffee and wholemeal toast .After my blow-out Italian lunch on Saturday it's back to the boring food again. Normality is back on the menu. I hope everyone has a nice day and that the sun is shing where ever you are, <<hugs>> to those who are feeling down, and big smiley faces to the rest of you .Although its Monday morning , its still only four more days till the week-end
Look after yourselves and I'll see you soon.

    Good morning everyone

and a very Happy Birthday to anniestar and poshpaws! Make sure you pamper yourselves today girls.

Well, back to work for me today. :( I haven't seen my boss in a fortnight so I know that he will be glad to see me and give me too much work so that his desk looks clearer. Just as well I got so much housework done yesterday as I will probably work overtime today.

No idea what's for breakfast as I was so busy cleaning and tidying yesterday that I forgot to go and buy bread and milk. Probably have some fruit. Dinner will be chicken in a white wine sauce with baby potatoes and cabbage and broccoli. No idea what I will be having for lunch either. (Must get better organised now that I'm back at work)

Have a marvellous Monday whatever you are doing. xx

    Morning tout le monde.

    Sunny Sun here! Yay.

That means it's picnic time for me and the kids today. Meeting a friend and her kids - so that should keep them happy for a bit.

I'm in the middle of stripping beds at the moment, and boiling eggs.

Happy birthday PoshPaws and AnnieStar - enjoy yourselves.

Right - off to finish beds, write list and then drag kids round the supermarket.

    Take care all
