I'm so sorry for your loss Cally, thanks so much for posting :)

Aah, I think your job sound far too stressful, drink or no drink. Is there no way you could find a job closer to home so you could spend more time with your family and give you a sense of fulfillment? Good luck hun, post on here if you want to drink and need to get it off your chest. There's also a cutting down/quitting alcohol thread on the DFW board and the people are really supportive.

Andie, you haven't spoken out of turn, it's good to hear the other side of things from time to time. Thanks for posting :)

Day 5 for me today, I am trying to do the day to day thing and not worry about tomorrow, so far it's working. Apart from day 1, today is the hardest as it's a Friday and there's summat about toasting the weekend in! But the day is almost over and I won't be drinking today.

Hope everyone else is well :)

Can`t sleep. I was burgled earlier in the week - while I was in bed. So every little noise wakes me up.
When this happened 8 years ago, I went on a bender that lasted nearly a year and then spent 9 months in rehab. This time, I called the police, sorted out things with the insurance (who were great) and went to an AA meeting. A much better solution.
On a different note, my ex had 2 heart attacks last month so I have been driving my daughters around. I noticed that they have a bottle of Absinthe at their house. As I`ve never even seen it before I began to wonder what it tastes like. Better not go there.
    Keep well.

Anyone like to join me in a nice glass of squash as I celebrate 26 weeks off the booze tonight? Yep, half a year, and I can honestly say I rarely give it a thought these days. The time has gone really quickly, but that could be due to my age - they say the older you get the quicker it flies by! :(.

Worked out that I have saved about £250 too :D .
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Bogoff I can't believe it. I started reading these posts just as you started on your road to recovery. I started going to AA meetings myself right at this time. WEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLL DDDDDDDDDDOOOOOOONNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEEE

Way to go kiddo. Keep up the good work. There is hope for my son yet. I like to go to meetings to hear of people's recoveries as it makes me feel not so hopeless. you didn't take the first drink and you didn't get drunk. Congrats enjoy your squash.

Shaz I am so pleased for you well done you. Keep it up. Every day will be easier and remember if you don't lift the first drink you can't get drunk. Have you made it to any AA meetings? Someone talked today about being 11 years sober and a complete dry drunk still living with the Alcholic thoughts and actions. Now that bloke is 19 years sober with AA after going on a binge after the first 11 years. Never ceases to amaze me. Taffy
