Welcome Sparrer. Glad to meet you. Sorry to hear about the snow, puts my sunburned head (one of the drawbacks of getting old and bald) into perspective. I'll need to start to think about getting my woolies out as I am due back in Scotland at the end of this month. When are you back Lewt?

Bogof Babe it sounds simple doesn’t it? But we know first hand how hard it really is which is why I keep coming back. I’ll always need the support as I’ll never be fully recovered. Re lemon/lime squash, I was in a restaurant last year and asked for a lime and soda, my usual tipple, and was served a lime and cider :eek: OMG I took a sip, it was foul! Now I always make sure I say lime and soda water, lol.

I’m in UK Lewt, 40 or so miles n of the smoke.We’ve had another fall of snow since my last post but it’s just about all gone now. Apologies Lewt, my greeting was simply hello in Chinese as I thought I read that’s where you are, nothing more or less intended

Hi Brodev, old and bald don’t necessarily go together, my ex OH was bald at 30 – he blamed it on his Army cap. Funny that, my Dad was a career officer and wore one too – and he had a fine head of hair at 70! Are you darn sarf on hols? I was in Scotland once, it rained for 10 days so I swam out again…:rolleyes:

Thanks Jo, as I said before it works if you work it, sometimes it’s wearing but so is anything worthwhile. And to be honest I gave up smoking a year ago and that seems to be harder. Don’t really think about alcohol these days but I’d kill for a cig sometimes :doh:!

I gave up smoking last year and actually found that a lot easier than stopping drinking, dunno why cos I did it a lot longer!

Keep going Shaz, you're doing brilliantly. After the first week I found it was taking me a lot longer to even think about drink every day. It became a ritual to down a big glass of squash at the first thought, grab a bag of crisps or some other eat treat, and get on with something distracting (usually involving the computer ). Treat it as the enemy (the drinking, not the computer) and show it who is boss!
