there is an AA meeting in my town held one afternoon a week, i am going to ring up the number i have been given, and find out what day it is and go along, bit scared as i have never been to an AA meeting before, but feel the time is right now. unfortunatly cant make evening meetings as i have 2 sons at home, who need me there in the evenings

Just wanted to quote a post I've just read on the cutting down alcohol thread on the DFW forum, fills me with inspiration for today...
'Well, week 5 of no alcohol and I see a different person in the mirror. My eyes no longer look dull and vacant, they actually have a little sparkle and my skin doesn't look like uncooked pastry anymore. I feel that I have won a battle but not yet the war. Hope everyone else is at the point they want to be, I never want to be that person I was, I have been tempted but I just think back to what I had become. The sun is shining at the moment and I feel good and want to continue to have the sun in my life'
I definately want to see a different person in the mirror and get the sun back into my life.DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Dear all - please can I join your thread?
I have had a drink problem for years but could not tell anyone and feel so lonely!
I know I have damaged my health and am off to see the GP in 2 days and am terrified. I stopped drinking over a week ago and know that I will never drink again. You are the only people I have told and the only people I can expect to understand the pain and shame.
I wish you all the best with your struggles and will post again later in the week. This afternoon I am going to tell my wonderful OH and hope it doesn't upset him too much.

Daisy,
Welcome to the thread and well done for taking the hardest step. We are lucky as we know we have a problem, there are many that are unaware as ridicolous as it sounds and will end up very sick indeed.
Good luck at the GPs and good luck telling your OH, let us know how it goes

Hi daisy. welcome and nice one for admitting it. followed up with action if your like me it will be one of if not the bet thing you do. i swore off so many times, yet always tricked myself back to drink. personally ive found that "thing" inside me that always took me back i achived this by practising and continuing the 12 steps. i wish you all the best whichever way you choose. If i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.0
