Most of my knives wouldn't fit in an in-drawer one but they fit my cooking style - large Chinese cleaver, carving knife and fork, large cooks knife, bread knife, plus some smaller paring/veg knives. All Global - wedding presents. The wall mount kept everything away from DD when she was smaller. Each to their own.

Mins Game Day 23 - 8 items
Took 9 bags of coin to the bank to pay in so I am counting those as today's kondoing.
Day 24 - 7 items
1. Pair of socks (given to Chocs in Socks appeal for the homeless)
2. Tube of hair gel
3-5. Unjoyful cereal bowls
6. Old credit card
7. Ice cream tub with no lid - possibly one that matched the lid thrown away a few days ago!
Day 25 - 6 items
1. Knitted squares for homeless blanket appeal
2. Wrapped gifts of socks and chocolates for homeless appeal
3. Eye makeup set given to daughter
4. Sewing kit given to other daughter
5. Wooden reindeer advent calendar given to grandson
6. Cross stitch pictures
I can actually see a difference now in the spare bedroom where most of all these things were stored. Coming to the end of the month, I am glad that I did it in reverse as I only have 15 items to find now before the end of the month without doing full-on kondoing in categories. That will be 2016's project!Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

Morning, Konverts!
I am still here and still a Konvert, but I'm really unwell at present. Several ailments, which I can normally work round, or awaiting treatment, but for the past few weeks, I've become really handicapped by hardly being able to walk, and painfully unable to sleep.
I'm hoping this is temporary and 'just a bad attack of RA'. :oHowever, it has certainly made me consider the danger of putting off de-cluttering for too long. Sooner or later, it becomes physically impossible to tackle.
My house is still in a state, and the thought that I could be beyond doing anything about it, is truly frightening.
I can now see, even more clearly, that I have to just get Stuff OUT. I can no longer hang on to Stuff that may or may not get used, or looked at. I need to clear space, to keep mobile.
So, a hard lesson is being learned!
I am still kondoing what I can, though painfully and even slower, and I may well need help, if the poorly leg doesn't improve.
I'm not whinging - Life is what it is, and I'm still  - in my head!Needs, NOT wants!

Thank you for the good wishes, ivyleaf and DawnW.
I've had RA for 22 years, but it has only been a temporary problem, for a few days at a time, till now - been very lucky.
Looking at family health history, immobility was unexpected and a big eye-opener, kondo-wise!
I'm going to have a go at ruthlessly discarding the yarn stash today - alternate sitting and standing might be do-able.
When I think about it, there are quite a few small kondos that I can still do and 'every little helps'. :rotfl:
ps Imagine kondoing with a walking stick - bummer! :rotfl:Needs, NOT wants!

Hope things improve sooner rather than later, iQueen
Perhaps a local Konvert could provide some assistance in kondo-ing? - no idea whether anyone is reasonably local to you, though

Hmm, I've never thought about keeping knives in a drawer.
I'm going through my dog's toy box as she has far too many and I'm going to just keep giving her the half eaten ones until they can be binned.
I'm also looking through the wardrobes and airing cuboard again to see if there is any more stuff for textile recycling. I bought a couple of new sheets so I might see if anything can be sent off. I must give the recycling place a lot of business.:D
Rubbish bins and recycling box needs to be emptied too.0 -
Hope you get better soon iQueen.
Countertops in the kitchen - fruit bowl with OH invoices underneath! (must work on that one), box of glasses wipes, next to hob jar of utensils. Jug of blender (too large to go into cupboard), chopping board upended behind drainer, drainer utensil holding wul, couple of scrubbys and old toothbrush (good to get into awkward places). Other side of sink water jug, used teabag holder and kettle, further round the coffee machine (used at least once a day), toaster (do not use very often - maybe resite), and microwave. Final side by oven various bits of paperwork held up at back by fruit punnets holding various misc.
Again, it all makes you think.
Take care.0 -
My kitchen tops are normally pretty clear - my kitchen is a galley kitchen, marginally larger than GQ's. Looks much better when the worktops are limited to tea and coffee, kettle, toaster and trivet. So I need to deal with the pile of washing up that's accumulated
.
I also currently have two cans of beans on the worktop that I use for some arm exercises whilst I'm cooking - trying to tone arms up!
Three bags of recycling to be taken out to the communal bins after work (didn't have time before work as I was running late and had to speak to the caretaker before I left).
Hope you feel better soon iQueen x"Does it spark joy?" - Marie Kondo
