  • Sadly, when I look at old photos I'm reminded of a marvellous quotation by someone theatrical, afraid I don't know who. On looking at a photo from earlier years he announced 'but darlings, haven't we all swollen!' :rotfl:

:D I find not allowing anyone to photo you and then, if they do, destroying the evidence, is marvellously soothing.

I am roaring with laughter at George Carlin's stand-up comedy video and shredding hundreds of old pix. Great fun.

ETA; I am 158 photos down on where I was at 6 pm tonight and think I will call it a night for that, plenty more need to be revisited but I think I will do that on another day or even on several. One wouldn't want to lose one's edge, now, would one?

I had a tiny pang (possibly a pang-let) on thinning down the photos of cats loved and gone, but I have kept from 2-4 examples of the very best shots, in their characteristic poses. I do also have the memories of the cute fur-balls, as well.

I also used that strategy for some holidays, when I kept the best 4-8 of each trip and lost the rest. There are only so many mountains, beaches, forests and gorges one can accumulate before you start wondering which holiday that was (or indeed, which hemisphere). Pembrokeshire or Outer Hebrides? Sloevenia or Tuscany..........?

Karmacat, you sound like you are doing admirably, running a business and enjoying the things you can do. On the home baking front, invite you friends to come to YOU, and insist they bring cake, it works for me! :D Best wishes, M.

loving the letters to older selves, will have a ponder tonight...... First thought is, 'You'll love your late 40's and early fifties, it's a time of liberation. You'll realise it doesn't matter one hoot what other people think about you, your clothes or even your singing voice!'

today I took nearly 250 empty cd cases to the HWRC. That's quite liberating :rotfl:

tomorrow I want you all to give me the mental strength to take an elderly neighbour to John L and NOT spend any money. We are going so she can choose a new vacuum cleaner.

wanders off muttering........I must not buy anything, I must not buy anything, i must not buy anything.
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

Well I have gone and done my back in. So have spent today sat in an upright chair sorting out cigarette cards that I inherited from my dad and which my brother and I want to sell. Need to get a list together and check they are full sets. I also had a nice visit from our ex neighbour who texted me yesterday and sounded like she needed to talk. We have said that we will make a catchup more regular. Will be off sick tomorrow so will probably get the rest of the cards sorted.
Trying to inspire oh to finish study. There are only about 20 books that need homes.

    Morning all
Table got cleared yesterday by completing all the faffy little finishing off tasks I'd let build up. Watched another DVD that can be rehomed and did a bit more back stitching for Christmas.
I've got a huge box of Christmas cards I need to sort through and write, I am a bit of a Christmas fan. And can't give up sending them to my usual list of friends neighbour's and relies, it does bring me joy doing it. Lots are elderly so the hand delivered ones are an excuse to pop round and catch up check people are ok. I do need to start wrapping but won't need to buy cards or paper as I have a large stash of both I'm working through.
got hair appt, work, mils hospital, and free visit to cinema to fit in today so doubt I'll fit any kondoing in but still want to go in attic and get Christmas stuff down. I'm hoping I didn't kondo the fake tree as the real one we bought last year died.

    Have a joyful day all.

Last minute sewing job finished yesterday DS1 gave me his favourite jumper on Sunday night with the plea 'can you do anything Mum' It a cotton knit of some years and the back of the neck had worn & laddered. One very fine crochet hook to pick the stitches back up and all sewn in place now. Today I can pack my machine & sewing stuff back in the little cupboard where its all stored very neatly. Last box of Aunties clothes to go to the CS today - will need to check the top item as puss managed to get inside & curl up most of the weekend!
I've some bits & pieces I need to put on Fleabay & some to be Freecycle too - that should tidy the room of doom!
Have a good day all x

    Morning all :D
Well summer clothes the few that I kept packed up in a storage box and stored neatly in loft.
3 more bin bags gone to new homes via the charity shop:D Another chazzer bag half full so will drop off once full.

A big plastic storage shed thingy installed in chicken area holds 3 dustbins of food and other bits chicken related ;) It is joyful for me as it cuts down on a lot of mucking about.
1 ton of sand ordered for Friday to keep the mud at bay around the chooks house. and slabs and cement to put down and move the storage shed on to.

Will buy another plastic shed to put rest of stuff (chook related) in but wanted to check they were really good quality first :) and they are really impressed with them. Said it takes 25 mins to errect but took us 2 hours but did keep getting stopped by heavy hail and snow. I may even get another one to hold tools paint etc. As you can move them about if needed.

The garage and dolls house will then be clear of everything for the first time in years and years :D and I will be able to find everything we need quickly and it gets paint etc out of the house ;)

Going to start the decorating (with real paint) next week as everything in the spare room is clear and sorted out :D Will start the prep this week which is the bit I dislike most.

    have a joyful day everyone

Hmm,, first real victim of the kondo :( I didn't transfer my christmas cake recipe when i sorted out recipe books.

I think i can pretty much remember it, so today is one of experimenting. i am going to use a different recipe as a guide but substitute in as i remember. DS may have some "fruity sponge puddings" for a while if it's a disaster. There ain't much you can't disguise with custard in that line, i'm guessing.

i am going to continue photos and paperwork today. oddly looking forward to it.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

I'm so glad I finally have a working system in place :T for dds clothes:
    - a few boxes of 'not yet' clothes in the attic, sorted by type of clothing (trousers, t-shirts, etc. NOT by size)
    - fitting clothes in the wardrobe
    - dd1's too small clothes go to the attic into dd2's boxes
    - dd2's too small clothes go into the 'for Africa', or 'for secondhand' boxes, or into the 'rag bag' in the attic
    - as soon as the 'secondhand' box is full it is sneaked out of the house and delivered to the secondhand store.
