This is important and I second your question.

Many people use a default 2 or even 3 day dispatch, so allowing for the bank holiday on Thursday it is quite possible it was not even die to be sent until WWednesday, when many couriers seemed to work a part day. S if it went Friday it is still too early to be delivered.

The estimated delivery date might be a bit optimistic though as eBay seemed to ignore the bank holiday.
On Christmas Eve many carriers were delivering but not picking up parcels.

Although several days have gone by several of those have been non working days. Of course few carriers deliver on Saturdays unless a large supplement is paid.
  • The problem is, when you pester the sender prior to the expected date, unless you are very diplomatic and the seller likewise, things can deteriorate very rapidly indeed. I had one person get irate and then proceed to tell me how rubbish the courier I've used is and "haven't you seen all the problems with this courier company online??", (No, it's me the seller that's sent over 25,000 parcels, I use my own data, thanks)

Then finally, the buyer tells me the item hasn't turned up even though it's now tracked as delivered, and what am I as the seller supposed to think about the buyer, who *knew it all* and seemed to know the parcel was going to go missing before it actually did.

Therefore, my general feeling is that you need to take a few deep breaths, and see the broader picture, especially with the time of year, xmas and new year, extra holiday days and never forget the "... and then wait..." step in the -mail order process-.

Too be honest, if you had sent 3 e-mails over the Christmas period, and phoned me as well and all this was well before my dispatch time / delivery estimate I'd refund and block you.

Pester the seller after the dispatch time has come and gone, but not before. This listing will have given you a delivery timeframe which you accepted at the point you bought.

She is using TNT so it'll take a week to get to me, so its going to exceed the delivery date - bearing in mind it hasnt even been picked up yet.

Do you think its acceptable not to post for a full week after an item has been paid for, particularly one at £200 and when the buyer has asked for info about posting?

Personally, i post next working day, or second at latest.

It isn't shoddy if the delivery date is 5th to 7th. She may not be at home.

As per my original post if you'd read it, she is at home, i spoke to her back on wednesday.

The package hasnt been picked up so its not going to be with me before next weekend.

Not bothering posting a £200 item for an entire week is shoddy in my opinion, maybe you have different standards.

I bought the item on the 27th. Not before christmas. So theres been the Monday 29th, Tuesday 30th, Wednesday 31st, Friday 2nd for a collection to have been made - or at very least to have updated me on the delay - bearing in mind she has my £200 and the item, so shes not really put out by it all.

The earliest now it will be picked up is the 5th, and i've had no confirmation thats likely to be the case.

It depends what her dispatch info stated. It would not be acceptable if next day dispatch was stated, it would be acceptable for. 4 day dispatch allowing for a bank holiday.

eBay allow sellers to choose how quickly they dispatch .

I have next day dispatch yet several times a month I get buyers who email me insisting I send their item out same day as it is urgent - I tend to block them from further purchases as the last thing I need as a seller is a buyer who doesn't read my listing.

Oh aye, i agree. I sent a simple 'hi, just confirming you got the item posted ok, and if so can you send me on the tracking number so i can make sure i am at home when its likely to arrive, thanks and kind regards' on the tuesday evening.

No reply, so asked again on the wednesday evening along the lines of "hi, just following up on my email from yesterday....", then phoned because to be very honest i was getting a bit jumpy as £200 is a lot of cash. Really wouldnt care if it was a tenner.

Therefore, my general feeling is that you need to take a few deep breaths, and see the broader picture, especially with the time of year, xmas and new year, extra holiday days and never forget the "... and then wait..." step in the -mail order process-.

Aye indeed. Just really needed to vent a little. Very frustrating as i didnt order it for fun and could be doing with it sooner rather than later. Could end up having to chase them through ebay for a refund, then re-order from someone else when the refund comes through then wait on that too. :(

Disappointing when i personally make the effort to post within 2 working days tops - and i thought that was pretty much the norm.

Just checked the listing - they've said 2 working days.

I was happy enough with the original proposed time, but i reckon TNT will take 5 working days to get it to me, so i'm looking at next friday earliest or even into the following week.

Not much i can do but frustrating.

I did contact the seller after the dispatch time - it was 2 working days in the listing.

I contacted them in the evening after the second working day had passed.

I could see them blowing the delivery estimate by a week at the moment, and i've had no confirmation at all of when the item is going to be dispatched.

Would you be happy with that level of service?

So it's been barely 3 working days since you ordered and item with 2 day dispatch, and you're reacting like this? I think you're going way over the top, especially considering what time of the year it is. I'm glad you're not my customer!
