tbf i think the op has been a little hasty.

But items are picked and packed so they are ready to dispatch.
Items are not dispatched until they have left the senders premises.

Except of course on eBay. Use PayPal postage to book one of their approved couriers like Collect + or parcel force, or even to print RM postage and it immediately marks item as dispatched.

If I sell something on a Saturday after my cutoff point and chose to use PayPal postage ready to drop off at the PO on Monday, it would show as dispatched on Saturday- a seller can't get round that.

True enough, but as you say thats ebay.

I was more talking about the point being argued here than in general.
Seller has done what they can, its not their fault item wasnt picked up on time.

But some seem to thing that by doing what they have done that the item has been dispatched, i disagree as item was still on senders premises.

I thought I'd muddy the waters a bit especially as eBay seem to accept dispatch as when the label is printed.

that's because ebay understand the meaning of despatch in the context of commerce, unlike the OP.

Think it may have been more tongue in cheek, as ebay uses the word in both contexts being talked about here. And many have complained about buyers being told an item is dispatched when they have only printed the label.
Grammatically of course it depends whether you use dispatch or dispatched.

Looks like it will be here tomorrow. And it wasnt a whinge it was an observation about how some people operate on ebay.

I was using the word in the context of "not having left her home".

It was you who tried to move the context.
