  • Update from meeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

    1. Pay off £1500.00 of the £5,000.00 debt - Not sure of the amounts paid off so far but will get back to you all 1st week in February with this.

    2. Lose 52lbs - Lost 2lbs this week so 50lbs more to lose in 2015.

    3. Save for OH 40th birthday surprise trip to Rome in December 2015 - I initially planned to take him to Berlin but have changed the destination to Rome as he has always wanted to go. Booked the hotel room & need to pay that on departure. Flights are paid for. Have worked out I need to save £150 a month from March until May then £110 a month from June until December to book the tours I want & have the spending money.

    4. Add to my emergency fund - This is not going well, started just saving £1 coins in a jar so I might have like £22 or something in there.

    5. Pay for our 2016 cruise & save some spending money - I have around £550 saved so far for this will update again 1st week February.

    6. Update on here more regularly - Ermmmmmmmmm kinda suck at this sorry!

Well not doin so bad I suppose, well done to everyone on their goals & the updates.

How are you & the bump NYD.

Good evening fellow challengers! I can't believe how quickly January has flown!!!

    Quick update on my goals:
    - Stay out of debt Yep, still debt free :D
    - Save £3000 I've saved £270 this month!! The extra work has come in so I'm aiming to save £100 a week
    - Learn how to play guitar - this is on my list every year, and dag nammit this will be the year I start playing!!I was doing really well, then my flatmate (who owned the guitar) moved out, so I've completely stalled!
    - Create two blogs - one about being an expat (I'm living in Germany for six months) and one about my baking adventures I'm still just on one, but I'm planning on starting the baking one tomorrow
    - Write the children's story I keep promising myself I'll sit down and work on Ah, yes. I need to work on this one too...
    - Start a function band for weddings and partiesAgain, not much I can while out of the country, apart from learn new songs at the moment, which I'm really enjoying!
    - Create my own business Again, on the back burner while I'm in Germany

There's a rumour going round that my boyfriend's project might overrun by a few months, it was meant to be finished in June but now it looks more likely it'll be September. I'm really not sure how I feel about this. Another few months with him before he goes back to sea would be fantastic, but I already feel like my life is on hold until we settle permanently. I'd just really like to know what we're doing...
    2019 Aim: Save £10,000
Don't sacrifice what you want most for what you want now
    • Pay off 2 credit cards, 1 loan and £5,000 of debt. 1 credit card paid off. :j1 credit card and 1 loan to go this year.
    • Save £50 per month for emergency fund. £100 saved.
    • Sort out mortgage. Still waiting on a decision from the housebuilder. They asked for further information from mortgage company so I've sent that off. Should hear either way by Wednesday.
    • Finish Mini NYD nursery. Received a call to say nursery furniture has been delayed 2 weeks! Grrr! Managed to haggle £50 in voucher for compensation. However, it means we are 2 weeks behind. Picked up all the d!cor yday.
    • Begin Mini NYD memory book (got the book, just need to start). Not started yet aiming for when I finish up on maternity leave (2.5 weeks)
    • Go away for our first weekend/mini break/week as a family in October 2015 paid for by cash, not credit.
    • Write business and marketing plan for life coaching business with clear milestones, to start in April 2016.
    • Spend quality time with my daughter when on maternity leave, make an effort to go to classes, walks and activities and not dwell on things that don’t matter (as much) e.g losing weight and getting fit.
    • Continue to support my dad 100%, research rehabilitation techniques and never give up hope. 3 chapters read.
    • Read 4 more books that expand my thinking. Not yet but see point above.
    • Read the influence blog and apply it to my professional life. Read this week's blog tonight.

NYD, thanks! It definitely helps that I only now have one credit card, which I now only use for emergencies, because the other two suspended my accounts then automatically closed when I paid them off haha!! It's frustrating that we don't know what's going on in the summer, but I'm trying not to get annoyed. More time for planning and baking and looking after all my babies :p

  • Errrr does anyone know where January went?! As if it is February so soon :o Looks like everyone is getting into the groove!

Here's my first update for this year..

    1. Ultimately, I want to be happier and content with my lot in 2015. - This is defo a work in progress but I repeat my wish to be happier to myself when I'm feeling a bit glum and I'm hoping this will become a good habit as the year goes on! I also received news of an impending promotion at work which will kick in come April/May. This has certainly brightened my outlook on work as I've been waiting in the wings for this opportunity to come round for years! :j
    2. Pay off remaining £1k debt from my pre-house ownership days. This is on 0% so it's still just ticking down at minimum payment for now.
    3. Pay off interest free loan taken out to buy new dining room table. Jan's payment has gone out leaving 7 more to go..
    4. Pay off interest free CC taken out to buy new curtains and blinds. £200 has gone into this pot leaving £900 to go..
    5. Continue to save at least £300 per month. Up to £2000 now with Jan's payment.
    6. Drink 1L of water every day. I've been doing ok at this!!
    7. Do something new/different every month. Went to the theatre to see Shrek the Musical. Loved it!!
    8. Exercise at least twice a week. Started well then my gym membership ran out. Need to renew and get going.
    9. Learn a song on the guitar. For later in the year.
    10. Read 12 books. No books started yet.

All in all not too shabby but it was just a fairly normal month. Need to start acting on things now rather than thinking I'll do them later - the year passes by too quickly for that!!

Continuing on in my pursuit of happiness and I wish everyone good luck with their aims for the next month :D
    Nest Egg Savings Target: £7300/£10,000
    Wedding Savings: £2660/£8,000
    0% Credit Card Debt Jan 2017: £2064
  • Quick update from me - housebuilder said 'YESSSSS'! I'm so relieved and happy with this decision and it takes the pressure off!

Was just dying to share with my buddies in this group.
