  • Good luck with your property issue NYD.

So does it mean you will end up potentially with negative equity...

update on my goals for this year so far.

    1. Pay off my debt to family (£2200) £481.41 of this has been saved so far. hopefully when i get a permanent job this will be able to go up a lot quicker and be paid off a lot quicker. but I'm happy with what has been saved so far for the year.

    2. Build my emergency fund back up to at least £1000- This went up to £600 but is now back down to £350 due to car tax payments aswell as other bits. I have been told I have got through to an assessment centre in London this thursday for a job so train tickets and hotel will probably have to come out of this too!

    3. Improve my grades at lead climbing (i rock climb as a hobby) All I've done since the New year is lead climb so I'm hoping I'm going in the right direction with this. I also now have a reliable climbing partner, which is half the battle!

    4. Climb outdoors- I have a day trip to the Lake District planned for February. if the weather is nice i could potentially get a few climbs in!:D

    5. Start & finish the patchwork quilt my sister bought for me many christmases ago (my mam bought me a sewing machine for christmas, so no excuses) I am planning on picking this up from my mams house this weekend so that i can look at trying to complete it in my spare time! :)

  • Nice thread. My main lifestyle goal is to enjoy at least two really good family holidays & to spend more time enjoying the company of friends.

Professionally, I want to keep enjoying my work and to develop systems, behaviours and routines to shrink any unnecessary stress.

My qualitative financial goal for 2015 is to maximise my earnings from work and to enjoy spending responsibly on experiences and education for myself and my growing family.

The quantitative financial goal is to end 2015 with net financial assets of more than £-200K (yes, that's a minus sign!) By which I mean savings accounts plus investment accounts minus mortgage balance. On 31st December 2014 this figure was £-236K. To achieve this by a combination of saving, investing and repaying.
  • I'm a bit late to the party but it's been a frenetic start to the new year so far. So for 2015 I will:

Spend more time out and about with my family
Be as close to debt free as possible
Have a clutter free house (Marie Kondo is marvellous!)
Complete my Chartership and be on my way to promotion
Have a new back door that we've actually saved for
Be well on the way to having major building works finished and on budget

And that should just about fill my year.

    By the start of 2016, I hope that I'll have;
    - Paid off the £280 on CC1
    - Paid off the £1220 on CC2
    - Reduced CC3 to £5000 by paying £250 a month.

Increased Savings 1 (intended for house deposit) to £5000.
Increased Savings 2 (intended for a new-to-me car) to £3000

And I hope that I, and all of you will be healthy, wealthier, and happy.

Another update from me (sorry all but it's keeping me motivated :o )

The front garden is cleared, it looks so much bigger and next door have offered me their leftover black paint that goes on the damp course bit of the house to touch up where the ivy was growing so I will do that on Saturday morning before the estate agents come round.

Once they've all gone I need to put down some bark chips (I think that's got to be cheaper than gravel which I'd love but so would my cats!)

I've spent tonight cleaning the bathroom and downstairs loo. We get some mould growing inbetween the tiles around the shower and I was going to buy the squirty stuff that bleaches it but then I thought i'd try just normal bleach so I tipped some in a bowl and painted it on with my smallest size paint brush and it's worked a treat! It's not 100% perfect but I may top up the grout with more from my mega bucket of tile and grout before freecycling it.

I emailed a couple of contacts today re freelance work for the week I have booked off. No joy so far but as it's half term there is bound to be something last minute so I'm not too worried. Ideally I would like to do just 3 days so I can do something with my mum on another and then a day to myself on the fifth day but will have to play it by ear.

I've just done my online shop for the weekend and kept it under £50 (my goal was £65 per week but I've already got cat food this week using my nectar points so it was a little cheaper) :T

Glad you seem to have the property problem sorted, NYD, I'm sure we're all watching for updates but it's such an unusual scenario that nobody has any experience to draw on for advice!
    Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

    December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.10
