Afternoon ladies
Nowt to report here, 6dpo just waiting around
Congratulations MrsH2b - I think we were on the PG thread together last time around
Hope AF shows up soon Aileth, I had one long funny cycle when I first came off the mini-pill (no periods at all while on it), and then I was back to normal so fingers crossed once AF shows up you'll be sorted.
Lulu, I want to kick your OH in the !!!!. No idea what to suggest, my DH was pretty ignorant first time around but he did listen once I explained about OV/fertile days etc.
PinkShoes - massive congratulations :j:T so glad your little one has hung on xx
Hugs to anyone else that needs them xxLittle monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Hello everyone!
Thank you for the supportive words last week. I kept reading but I couldn't face posting and the possibility of bringing the whole thread down with me. I felt really unlike myself. I've never felt so gloomy and miserable before. Now that my dark cloud has lifted, I'm getting back to my usual self again.
Looking to the positives. MrMRN is back at the weekend after 2 weeks away with work. We'll make the most of our time together as he's expected back Monday morning at his usual place of work where he lives Monday-Friday.
A new pack of OPKs was waiting for me on the door mat after work today. I was swaying between not testing at all... what does it matter when ov occurs if we can only BD Friday-Sunday?! Or, OPKing the whole month to get a picture of what's going on. Maybe I have a second peak that I've never seen before as I stop testing on my first negative after a positive. So testing the whole month it is. I started today, CD7 (yes I know it's early) and it was negative (obviously).
And before I go... congratulations to Amy Turtle and MrsH2b and hugs for Pinkshoes who's good news is back on again. Hurray.:TMFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -
POAS question.
This is my first month using one of the old style Clearblue Fertility Monitors.
I turned it on today (You're supposed to do that every day), and it told me I was CD7, which is correct, and that it wanted me to do an OPK test. On CD7? What is it expecting to show me on CD7?
Having read the instruction booklet, it does say:In Cycle 1, your first test will be requested on day 6. The Monitor will then request a test
every day for a total of 10 or 20 days depending on your cycle length, and when it sees your
Peak Fertility. In subsequent cycles the first test day will vary between cycle day 6 and 9,
according to what the Clearblue Fertility Monitor has learned about your cycle, and you will
still be asked for a test every day for 10 or 20 days.© Cuilean 2005. Any connection between your reality and mine is purely coincidental.0 -
Hi Cuilean
Long time lurker here - have been using my CBFM (old style) on and off for over 18 months now so have learnt a thing or two about it.
First few months you use it, it's "learning" your cycle - it's just a mini computer that basically looks for patterns in your cycle. When I started using mine and it also said start at day 7 - the sticks are expensive though. It may well be that you OV early in which case, your CBFM will tell you when you get a high/peak for one or two days so you wouldn't want to miss it hence why you're using it. You are likely to get a fair few days of "low" readings so don't be disappointed but everybody has different cycles.
I seem to OV between CD13 & CD17 but generally around CD15-16.
Mine now asks me to start testing on CD9 so I'd use 10 sticks from CD9 to CD 19 roughly....
Once you've had your high/peak, you don't really need to test anymore otherwise it's wasting more expensive sticks.
I'm just using up old stock so if you want to be a bit more MSE (afterall, we are on the MSE site), I'd recommend the internet cheapies which are just a couple of lines when it's a positive. They have always given me the same readings as the CBFM and cost a fraction of the price.
This TTC is expensive and then if we get our forever babies, it becomes more expensive - eeek!
Good luck

Cuilean I don't know much about the CBFMs but I think I've read somewhere before that it needs to work out what is a normal baseline LH for you (some people always have some background levels in their system) before it can then say what the peak is. So that's probably why it wants you to test this early.
I totally agree with not wanting to waste money on POAS - and I'm only using ICs that are about 17p each! Following SMEP this month which said to start doing opks on CD10 - I knew this wouldn't show anything so I started on 12. Here's a pic from CD12 & CD13 (yesterday). Hoping I will get a positive today so the SMEP DTD 3 days in a row will happily fall Fri-Sun!0 -

Having read the instruction booklet, it does say:
It just seems a tad premature to me, and at just over £1 a stick, I kind of begrudge "wasting" a stick. If I'm wasting my money, I'd obviously rather it was on chocolate or wine
I've never used one before but I think it's to gauge your "normal" levels of LH so it is more precise when you have a surge? ETA - Oh Pug, we've cross posted but at least we're right!
Welcome back MRNI would be the same as you, I suppose if you're only seeing Mr MRN on weekends it would be a waste if you have a surge in the week, plus it'd make you feel worse emotionally because you would feel like you've missed the boat. I think for you the more important thing is BDing when you can.
AFM I downloaded a free SMEP book onto my Kindle and gave it a read. When I got home from work last night OH was home and was actually up for DTD and I was CD8 so it looks like the plan is working! Start using my OPKs (Thanks, LisaJane!) tomorrowOur Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

*High fives Lulu* We totally nailed it!
What did the SMEP book say? All I've done is read that you DTD every other day starting on CD8, do opk's daily from CD10 then DTD every day for three days in a row when you get a positive opk, miss a day then DTD once more. Is that all there is to it or does the book give any more instructions?0 -

Well it's only a short book but it's more about why those days are important. It also busts a few myths, especially about positions and the whole lying down for half an hour afterwards! :rotfl:
There's a lot in there about women in their 40s TTC and a list of reasons not to test early. I would recommend it as it is a good read, and it's free :money:Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

Neither have I! I'm too busy! Last night OH told me at 7pm that we had to meet our friends at 7:30pm - and I had only just gotten home. Needless to say BD took priority and we were a bit late (but everyone else was too!)
