Another announcement in my office (the most fertile workplace in Manchester). Scan pic flash, the works. I am holding on by a thread. Of course it was a "total surprise" and they have 2 beautiful kids already.
I am becoming such a horrible person... Xx
Aw it must be hard. I can totally see how people get to that stage. It would be the 2 minute relationships having kids that would get to me more. I'm surrounded by babies at the minute and have spent my week off visiting them but I'm luckily not feeling anything like those kinda feelings yet. It's engagements and weddings that bother me more as I'm still waiting for that to happen...To us older ladies, I read an article that said conceiving in our mid to late thirties still had just as good a chance of happening as a few years earlier. The main difference is that it takes longer to conceive so don't worry too much.
I was 34 when trying for my first and it took 10 cycles, which was quite a common length on this board at the time. However once you're 35 the NHS says you can go to your GP for advice after 6 months ttc. Well after 4 I made an appointment and the GP gave us the standard advice about dtd every other day but she did send me for 21 day bloods and OH was booked for SA. So I don't think it hurts to get the ball rolling when it comes to non-invasive checks like this
My GP told me when I started that you can get help quicker once 35 so I think we will give it until the Summer then do just that. Definitely worth seeking help sooner rather than later at this age, especially if you want more than one child0 -
Been to the docs today. He didn't have any advice and said we are doing everything right but he's referred DH for sperm analysis and me for day 3 & 21 bloods. He says once those results come back we will discuss further tests.
The line on my cheapy opk is almost the same colour as the control line today, so I'm expecting ov to be Saturday I think, which is spot on for my usual day 15 ovulation.
Sexymouse I'm a day behind on the list, I should be CD13 today, thanksHappiness can be found in even the darkest of places, if one only remembers to turn on the light - Albus Dumbledore

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this. I took my last pill in December, with the intention of starting TTC later this month, and we have been careful 95% of the time. Cycles have been 30 days long, OV CD17. This months AF has only lasted 2 days, last month it was 3 days. Google is telling me 2 days is not normal and I am quite worried. I was on the pill so long I can't remember what my 'normal' is, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't this.0

Well I gave in last night and took a first response test... BFN
got more upset than I thought I would and practically cried myself to sleep. Hubby very supportive but feeling a bit lost this morning.
No sign of AF yet but this is already CD37 so I'm guessing she's iminent0 -
Millie fx you get some answers.
Sorry Clara
Tinks it can take a while for periods to come back to "normal" after the coming off the pill, especially if you've been on it a long time. I came off it last June, my periods still shorter & lighter than before. If you think you might be pg, maybe you should test?0 -
Morning ladies,
Oh it is rubbish with these surprise pregnancies. I'm expecting a colleague to announce a pregnancy some time this year as she said they'd start trying after they brought a house and they've just brought a house so...
Got another "no babies yet then" comment yesterday at work from an ex colleague who came to visit grrr!
Millie - At least you've got the ball rolling with the tests and hopefully will get some answers that are easily fixed.
Clara- Sorry to hear you got a BFN, it's such a horrible feeling and i think our OH's feel so helpless.
Tinks - When i first came off the pill my periods were lighter and shorter, it can take a few months to get back to "normal"TTC since September 20150 -
Thanks Ladies!
I'm not sure if i'm just feeling more pressure now that I know my sister in law is pregnant. They fell pregnant on their 2nd try. She was tracking on Ovia for a year before ttc and had never been on contraceptive pill.
I only came off pill at the end of Sep 15 and was on it for around 15 years. I wish I had come off it earlier now to give my cycle time to settle down. I almost feel clueless again!0 -
Tinks I can back up what the others have said as well, mine were only about 3 days long too for the first 6 months of being off the pill, then funnily enough I had a bad 4 day one (my first "real" one?) and got a BFP the month after... so maybe it took that long to get out of my system? If they are short but happening regularly I wouldn't worry.
Millie glad you have started the ball rolling and hope you get some answers. Or even better, a BFP before you need any!
Rachylou I was exactly the same with engagements and weddings as well!!!
Clarabell so sorry for the BFN, sending hugs. You're not out yet!
Alex I get that too... "no patter of tiny feet for you though yet eh"... cheers for that haha!
Sending lots of positivity out to you all, I've gotten through the nasty phase of AF now so feeling much better today. CD 4
Have a great weekend all xMancMama4 (35) TTC since Apr 15, MMC Dec 15, Our Rainbow Baby Charlie arrived Dec 16 :heart2:0 -
Welcome Meep! I don't think 40 is old, I know lots of people who have had their first around that age, but what I would say is go straight to the docs after 6 months if you're not getting anywhere, don't delay getting tested!0
-
Good luck with the tests Millie
Have you been testing Tinks? Mine lasts almost a week so very different to what you're experiencing but everyone is different
Sorry to hear about your BFN Clarabell. I keep wishing I had started earlier than I did but OH keeps reminding me that we weren't quite ready then and he puts things into perspective very well, bless him.
If it helps anyone, my OH has a friend and wife who tried for years and they both used to get upset at other people's news of babies, one night the guy broke down in tears (my OH didn't know what to do). Anyway, their little miracle came without any help and just happened one day, she is one this year :j. This type of story keeps me going that it could take a while but everything is possible and it doesn't mean there is a problem.0
