Hello
Can I join you all - been lurking for a few months but only started trying for the past two. Currently mid AF (did try to convince myself it was implantation bleeding the first day - humpf). I'm 40 years old and never been pregnant - its very odd, spending most of my life trying desperately not to get pregnant (God the hideous boyfriends I've had - never wanted kids with them!!) then all of a sudden it's GoGoGo... Must admit I feel a bit pessimistic about the whole thing, I keep reading how you're past it at 35 when it comes to falling pregnant. My OH is super positive - with him it's 'when' not 'if'
Anyway, I'm trying to learn the lingo - got the clear blue ovulation sticks at the ready, changed my diet, added in the folic supplements and told my acupuncturist (I see for arthritis) to stick a few extra pins in for a baby
OH works away during the week which makes it a bit tricky. Certainly didn't help last month.
All in all I'm trying to keep relaxed about the whole thing, but if I'm honest, failing miserably - all I can think of is I'm old!!!!!!
Anyway, nice to meet you all and wishing you all the baby dust possible.
Welcome Meepmeep. We have a lot in common. Whilst I'm 35, I have had my age rammed down my throat for ages now about it being late and less chance to conceive but I've never been bloody ready before now so it is frustrating. I was superpositive before we started trying but realised quickly how anxiety kicks in and it's hard not to let it consume you. This is my third cycle. My OH is working away lots now too, which is a new thing and it's bang on the fertile week this month and next I realised yesterday
In other news, my AF is a nasty one, two lots of PJs in the wash since yesterday from heavy flow overnight. Feel like crap0 -
Today I have managed to refrain from testing! I am feeling awful though
Don't know if I am just coming down with something. Not as much nausea today and no cramps or twinges but I have the most horrendous headache and can barely keep my eyes open (even after an early night last night!) Sitting in work, barley managing to concentrate on a single thing apart from AF due tomorrow or being a day or two late, taking a test and getting BFN then getting AF.
Feel like i'm losing my mind!!!0 -
Rachylou I'm 35 too and definitely feeling the pressure piling by the day... so frustrating! Hope you catch soon xMancMama4 (35) TTC since Apr 15, MMC Dec 15, Our Rainbow Baby Charlie arrived Dec 16 :heart2:0

Another announcement in my office (the most fertile workplace in Manchester). Scan pic flash, the works. I am holding on by a thread. Of course it was a "total surprise" and they have 2 beautiful kids already.
I am becoming such a horrible person... XxMancMama4 (35) TTC since Apr 15, MMC Dec 15, Our Rainbow Baby Charlie arrived Dec 16 :heart2:0 -

Manc you're not a horrible person at all, just so frustrating when those "surprise" keep getting announced. Keep you chin up & believe you turn will come (fx very very soon) x
Clara good resolve, well done, & fx AF stays away.
I turn 34 next week, def starting to feel the old biological clock ticking ...0 -

To us older ladies, I read an article that said conceiving in our mid to late thirties still had just as good a chance of happening as a few years earlier. The main difference is that it takes longer to conceive so don't worry too much.
I was 34 when trying for my first and it took 10 cycles, which was quite a common length on this board at the time. However once you're 35 the NHS says you can go to your GP for advice after 6 months ttc. Well after 4 I made an appointment and the GP gave us the standard advice about dtd every other day but she did send me for 21 day bloods and OH was booked for SA. So I don't think it hurts to get the ball rolling when it comes to non-invasive checks like thisDon't listen to me, I'm no expert!0
