Hi everyone
Real Life is getting in the way of me posting on threads so I'm going to bow out of most of them.
Thanks very much to all the virtual friends I've made on here, it's been fun
Cheers

Keep well Rosyq, hope you still manage to find time to craft.
As expected, I added to my stash over the weekend thanks to a papercraft fair but I didn't buy half as much as I normally would.I booked in to do a workshop with Julie from Craftwork Cards thinking that I might learn some new techniques to help with the stash busting but the reality was that she swanned about between the tables like a celebrity (because she's been on Create and Craft TV!
) and we were pretty much just left to our own devices to make one card using some new toppers and a new design card blank that they've just brought out, so it was essentially just a sales pitch. For the same price as the workshop I could have bought the full set of papers and toppers and made a dozen cards! I refused to buy any of the items we used in the workshop out of principle!
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

Loving all the new makes.I too now NEED a project bag
Its great to see so much stash busting going on. I'm bursting with pride for you all
rosyq - don't leave usIt doesn't matter whether you are stashbusting or not or don't have time to post very often (if at all)
Just enjoy the thread when you can
Birdie85 - well done on being restrained and I'm sorry to hear about the workshop. I always thought Julie was one of the "nicer" on air crafters but have changed my opinion now! On the plus side it stopped you buying more stash
Well I have managed to destash more items as the person came to collect the Hunkydory toppers, papers and inserts which I sold on facebook. I forgot to count how many sheets there were but am going to count it as 25 as I know there were at least many. The £25 I sold them for is waiting to be paid into the savings account tomorrow

Hi all,
Just popping by to declare a further make. I actually made a start on Project Life 2015 and finished the title page

Of course!! Well, I'll try-I'll try, haha!!
I dug out all my scraps, and basically decided on what size I wanted it to be (mainly based on how big my biggest little scraps were!), then:
1) cut out 4 rectangles for the front and back (inside and outside), and set 2 aside for the inner.
2) cut out 4 rectangles for the sides -same height as the front and back, and as wide as you would like the bag to be. Set 2 aside for the inner.
3) cut 2 rectangles for the base-as long as the front, and as wide as the sides. Set 1 aside for the inner.
4) get front rectangle (1) and line up scraps across the front of it to make pockets. The easiest way is to make sure they are the same width. Press the tops over to form a hem, hem it (or use bias binding/ribbon) then reposition on the front. All your pieces should be right side up. You can repeat this step for the back if you want pockets on that too.
5) grab a side rectangle, and lay over the front, right side down, lining up with the edges-out one on the left, and one on the right, then sew up the sides, sewing in all of the edges of the pockets as you go.
6) grab the base rectangle, and right side down, line up with the base of the front, and sew across, making sure you sew up the bottom of all your pockets as you go(otherwise everything will fall out!)
7) repeat step 5 for the back, so that you have a square, then line up the edges of the base with the bottom of all the sides, and sew right round. I usually double or triple stitch this, cos I'm prone to over filling bags! Press your seams if you feel they need it (I often CBA, and a poke in the corners with a knitting needle does the trick!)
You now have your 'outer' bag, which is fine as it is, but I lined mine, so read on if you wanna do that too...
8) repeat all of the steps above for the inner (I added one big inner pocket, and sewed up it in narrow strips, kinda like a needle roll?)
BUT... Reverse your sides-make sure that the raw edges and seams are on the outside, with all of your right sides facing in (have a look inside one of your bags if that doesn't make sense).
I normally sew this up with a fractionally larger seam allowance, so that it fits well inside the outer, but it's up to you.
9) slot your inner into your outer, and line up the corner seams-I normally pin each corner, then work out along the flat sides. Get e iron, and press your seams-inner lining 'out and over', and outer 'in and over' basically hiding them both in the gap between the outer and the lining, and ironing a nice flat seam all round the top, pinning in lace as you go
10) sometimes I'll use ribbon or bias binding to finish off the top, but didn't bother this time as it was only for using in the house. I splashed out with zig zag stitching though :rotfl:
11) position your straps on the front and back, or however /wherever you want them, and slide them between the lining and the outer. I used some leftover webbing, but you could use fabric strips/wide ribbon, whatever takes your fancy really.
12) sew around the top, taking care not to accidentally sew your fingers/straps/other side of the bag/sleeves/anything really (not that I ever have, obviously:o ) this is the only really fiddly part of the whole thing
13) show off your bag to all that are interested, and even those that aren't (because, let's face it-you made it, so they should coo and bow in wonderment)
I hope this makes sense, and isn't too long winded? Please let me know if I haven't explained anything very well, or if you want me to try and knock up a diagram or something?'By all means let's be open minded, but not so open minded that our brains drop out.'0 -
