Frogletina wrote: »That reminds me - I have a lampshade that doesn't fit on the lamp I bought it for. At the same time I bought a lamp with an identical shade and I've just looked on the cupboard where I though it was and it isn't there! I've no idea where it could be.
I've got a lamp in my hallway which I no longer like - the shade is a dust collecter so I should get rid of that one but I do need another there as it is a dark hallway.

I've found the lamp but not the spare lampshade yet! Lamp has been moved into my main room and back where it was supposed to be. I'd put it in the spare bedroom for my house guest but it was not being used.
Not yet looked for a lamp to replace the hall one.
Now to my next declutter list. It's been a while since my last one.

The bins are filled and ready to be put out to be emptied tomorrow morning.
To go to the charity shop on Tuesday morning :-
I've pulled out a Russian language course book with three audio cassettes - the BBC has now updated the course and, of course, it's on CD.
Two small mugs.
A roll of self adhesive Christmas parcel labels.
A blue pen, too nice to simply throw away.
A couple of carrier bags.
An as new, never used, Christmas themed arts and crafts magazine, picked up on holiday in Florida in 1992!
A book on how to make hooked rugs.
Thrown to the rag bag :-
A diseased looking, badly fitting, cotton fleece in a dreadful grey colour. It needs ironing, the cotton fluff gets all over my clothes, it's got paint splashes on it and I wouldn't want to inflict it on anyone else.
Taking to work tonight :-
A collection of dud batteries to throw them away in the battery bin.
A couple of magazines for the break area.
An air freshener for the unisex, poorly ventilated toilet. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
Out:
5 tatty t shirts (too tatty for hubby to use for work)
1 pair of hubbys fluorescent work trousers (he wont wear them because they don't have lots of pockets in)
Baby jumper
Bath sheet (seen better days and I don't use/need it)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Out:
- The grotty old plastic scales binned as I have a nice metal set for 'big' things and a tiny, precise set for small amounts. I didn't CS it as the bowl on the top is loose and is a pain as it tips over.
- A pen - ended up in the bin and so it can stay there
- a set of watercolour paints in annoying tubes
Not an 'out' as such, but I have used the 3 big boxes and tons of packing noodles from my blender to start packing stuff for a carboot sale in the spring. Very therapeutic.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -

Welcome Samantha 22. I don’t think you aretoo late; I havealready indicated I will be on this thread for a long time yet! Just pick a small area to do at a time andcomplete it in your time slot. That’s what I did this morning; I had an hour sotackled one shelf in my wardrobe. Alternatively, if you like a challenge, set atimer and see what you can do in short bursts. Another way is to look for a setnumber of items, such as 10 things for the bin or 10 items for the charityshop. Just do what suits you and list your decluttered items here. I find it really motivational to do this. As youread the thread you will get lots of ideas of how to declutter and what to getrid of. I know you said that you would need to get someone to help you get rid of stuff but presumably you will be saying what needs to go and manageable chunks might feel easiest.0 -
Wow! Everyone is doing amazing :T:T:T
A gentle day this end.
3 candle sticks not used in 10years - I tend to use tea lights these days - CS
2x Chinese soup spoons. Lovely to look at but impossible to use without spilling the soup all down you - CS
Whilst not technically decluttering I've finally gotten around to swapping our gas and electricity company :j Hopefully saving us over £300 a year, which is amazing considering I only swapped about 18months ago.0
