Afternoon all. Well the weekend was a bust decluttering wise. It ended up being filled with social engagements so I had almost no time at home. So the magazines, the old cards and the CS bag are still languishing at home. In sheer desperation first thing on sunday before going out to do my zumbathon I had a 5 minute declutter of one of the bathroom cabinet draws!
This dire state of affairs will soon be rectified however as I have booked Thursday and Friday off work so I hope to make massive inroads this weekend. Oh, today I listed my soap and glory set on Snaply. Hopefully there will be a taker.0 -
This morning, I must admit I bought something instead of decluttering - but it's something that I have intended to buy for a while, and it was a bargain price. It's one of those garden storage boxes for tools and suchlike. I've bought two (£29.99 each in B&M). One is for my recycling boxes and bags. I'm waiting for new ones as they blew away in last week's gales. The front of my house will look so much neater.
The other is for the side of the house. My garage needs a major declutter (no surprise there!). I'm sure we need very little, so if the stuff we need to keep is put into the storage box, maybe I will be able to get the car into the garage by the end of the summer!
I've done very little so far today, but I think I'm finally coming to terms with the fact that I am a hoarder. I don't collect piles of newspapers, or have drawers full of odd pieces of string, but I don't get rid of stuff either. It's really quite hard to admit that it has become a problem, but I'm getting there. I've admitted it to myself (and to you all), but not to my friends or family yet. I'm not brave enough to say out loud that I have a problem, even though they probably already realise it.
Today's decluttering has been done by the children:
23. Recycled cardboard from new garden storage box (just one so far, the other hasn't been assembled yet).
24. More washing upstairs! That should be it for a couple of days though.
The kids have also swept the lounge floor, filled the dishwasher, and put away some shopping. I've had a much needed doze this afternoon (I'm up every night with my disabled son, but it's been more frequent this past week as he has a chest infection and has needed more care overnight). A big thank you to my younger son (age 15), who has kept an eye on my disabled son.0 -

frogletina have you tried the pound shops? I'm sure I got a pack of 5 from there, the type with the press stud on the front!
Thanks. I haven't looked in there, but I was looking for the card files. The plastic ones with press studs annoy me and when you have several on top of each other they don't stack right and slip all over the place.
Now I have the boxes which fit in lovely in my cupboard. I have some box files but they come right to the edge of the shelves making it difficult to shut the cupboard. It is a lovely freestanding cupboard that belonged to my mother.
I've been out all day and I am desperate to do some more decluttering! It's so addictive.

I've been out this evening, so done very little. I lost 2.5 pounds at Slimming World though! And (being organised for change), I've thrown a pile of veg into the slow cooker for a soup for tomorrow.
25. Found a stack of engagement cards, so they're in the bag that is going to my daughter's house (they're her cards)
26. Found some old pay slips of my daughter's, so as above
I really must tackle the coffee table tomorrow....0
