Flat sheets gone as we never use them ( one kept in case of illness with fever), towels, a poncho that makes me look like the Gruffalo and a couple of tops, one of which gapes and the other cuts under the arms. And a pillowcase that I just don't like, so there0

Out:
Two pillowcases
One tatty t shirt that belongs to my son.
Tunic dress that doesn't flatter me one little bit..... ok being honest I look like a flump in it.:o
Add to the list a couple of complete outfits I bought for my Grandson. I was sick of faffing around with skinny jeans and shirts with lots of buttons so I bought my own for when I have him. My daughter has now got the message and I no longer need to dress him in my own clothes.... Good job really cause I don't think he'd fit in what ive got stored for him now. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Hiya, can I join please? I really need to get rid of stuff, and have made a good start. Then this morning, I have discovered this thread. I think it's great to read what people are doing to get rid of the stuff cluttering up their houses and lives, and I'm hoping that if I join in, I'll stay motivated.
In the last week, I've decluttered the following:
1. Emptied all carrier bags in the house. My kids tend to carry stuff around in bags, then don't empty them when they get home. I must confess that I'm the same, but to a much lesser extent. We also use carrier bags to collect all the stuff that gathers in the car.
2. Said carrier bags all gathered together. I filled four bags with other bags and took them to the recycling at Morrisons. I now have another four bags, which I will take soon (hopefully this afternoon).
3. Various bits and bobs that are no longer needed packed into two bin bags and taken to the hospice warehouse. They need more carrier bags, so I think I'll take above carrier bags there instead of Morrisons.
4. Another two bags of stuff for the hospice charity. Mainly cups and glasses from one double cupboard in the kitchen. Hoping to drop off this afternoon when I pick my son up from school.
5. Almost cleared dining table. Still a bit to do, but at least you can see that it is a table now!
6. Five boxes of stuff for Rainbows and Brownies taken to unit meeting place. We've moved twice in the past nine months, and I've had to keep lots of stuff here. We have now sorted storage at our new meeting place though, and it's a relief to take things there. I still have to have some resources at home, especially planning and paperwork, but most of it is confined to one large bookcase and one shelf unit with storage boxes on. I'm still finding things to take to the unit, though, so I have a box in the dining room to chuck things in as I find them.
7. I have a clear and completely clean worktop in the kitchen! Items that have gathered on the worktop have been rehomed or put into the charity bag.
8. The pile of stuff that had gathered in a corner of the kitchen has been sorted and rehomed, chucked, or charity bagged.
9. Last week's recycling bags and boxes were twice as full as usual. This week's should be the same.
10. The shoe racks have been sorted. I have two full bin bags to take to the tip (hopefully this afternoon), where they have a recycling point.
11. The shoe racks are now tidy, along with the seagrass chest alongside them. The clutter from the top of the chest has been chucked, rehomed, or charity bagged.
12. I can see my coffee table top! I still need to clear it completely though.
13. DVDs have been put into the lovely 16 drawer chest that I received from Freecycle last year. The drawers fit a few DVDs perfectly.
14. The ever growing pile of clean washing has been sorted. Towels are in the bathroom, clothes are in the relevant bedrooms. I still have to take up the clothes washed today, but need to dry them first! At least I can sit in the wicker chair that has unofficially become the ironing pile. (Clothes have not been ironed - I'll do that as and when necessary apart from school shirts).
15. Various bits of 'stuff' that had gathered in the hall has been sorted and removed.
16. The settee has been cleared of various books, items of clothing, pens that have fallen between the cushions, etc. It has now been kept clear for a whole three days - with some nagging from me!
Quite a lot in a week. That's in addition to the normal everyday housework like cleaning the bathroom, washing and drying clothes, loading and unloading the dishwasher, sweeping the floor (but I really must mop it!).
Today's plan is to sort the stuff that has fallen behind the wicker chair, finish clearing the coffee table, take stuff to the tip or charity shop, and clean the cooker. Wish me luck! I'll log on later to report progress.0 -
I have decided that when I go out tonight to a meeting I will stick the tip stuff and charity shop stuff in the car boot so that I can take them there tomorrow lunchtime without the mad rush in the mornings. I will also take the recycling down to the communal bins at the same time. I need a firework under me sometimes!"Does it spark joy?" - Marie Kondo
