I am so tired. I have been decluttering most days since Christmas and for several hours too. It's not just that I have some excess things, it's also that I am sorting everything out as well which includes moving things from one room to another.

I reworked two cupboards in my bedroom first thing.

Then I emptied a storage box from a cupboard in my 'departure lounge' which contained children's toys and books and added some of them to a suitcase that was only half full of craft things.

I've put a lot of the books in a bag for my daughter to have first dibs on and the rest will go to the charity shop. The box I filled with vinyl records as I don't play them often and taking up valuable cupboard space in the main room.

I put some books I want to look at before they go to the charity shop into the emptied cupboard, so only there for a short time. Also I keep my cookery books in there - then added some baking things in there and as before, my potatoes. It is the coldest spot in the house.

Later I sorted out my freegle account which must have taken an hour during which time my broadband went down. Earlier while taking a break to watch the TV my Youview box went down and was not responding to the remote.

I boiled the kettle for a drink at 7, and I've still not had it. Just washed up dinner things and will make drink now and have some supper as I completely missed having tea. Then I will watch Casualty, unless I fall asleep first.

Thank you very much for all the motivation.Tomorrow am going to start some serious decluttering. The house still won't look any tidier until we are able to move stuff back into newly-decorated rooms, but I will know things have been decluttered.Though the rest of the family won't even miss their stuff, hahaha.

Not a great amount today as it's been a baking day but better than nothing
Three sheets of cracked glass wrapped ready to go to tip
Shredded dozens of photographs which have no sentimental value to anyone in the family
    Decluttered several folders on laptop.

Sometimes you choose to declutter and sometimes decluttering chooses you!!!

I’ve been trying to work through my (large) book collection and the general junk lying around but noticed that one of my kitchen wall cupboards was coming away from the wall. So one mad panic to unload all the herbs, spices and bottles of this that and the other, plus the big bottling pan from on top before the whole lot fell off. Decluttering of the contents done as mentioned in a earlier post so yesterday I decided I had just enough space to take the cupboard off the wall and refit the support baton.

Nothing is ever simple is it!? An ex friend and his kitchen fitter brother had offered to put up the cupboards as the nothing is square or true but sadly it turns out to have be quite a bodge. So once I declutter enough space the other cupboards will have to come off too – turns out the bottom support baton was only lightly glued to the wall and it came away with the cupboard that I took down. So the remaining 2 cupboards are not attached at the base and worse still are twisting themselves off the wall.

But it does mean that 2 more cupboards will get decluttered!!! :rotfl:

Apart from that I'm basically trying to keep on top of the bits and pieces that come into the house almost without you realising - plastic bags, receipts, envelopes - and get into the deal-with-it-now state of mind and not leave it for later (or more truthfully, put it to one side and forget about it). So bins and bags are filling more slowly at the moment but they are still filling :j

Well done to all you other posters, you are really keeping me motivated

    37. I was looking through all my scissors and I have 6 pairs still! I am going to see which ones need to go. I'm sure two of them barely cut anymore. I tried to sharpen them but it didn't work.

My dogs will have their fur decluttered today as I'm giving them a haircut.:D

  • Morning all sorry missed about a week but a few bits have gone, did the CS run yesterday and gave them 2 bin bags full, DD1 got 4 choccy tins (1 was full) and 4 pairs of shoe insoles I had going spare. A late Christmas pressie finally got decluttered and some toiletries got used up so containers got recycled.
DH has said if we aim to take a couple of bags once a month to CSA we should start seeing an improvement! Hope I can hold him to that.

115k when my scissors start to blunt I cut up a sheet of used, coarse sandpaper into narrow ribbons with them, it gives them a new lease of life for a few months.

A few days ago I put some clothes in the cs bag. This morning I took a skirt out :o . Needed a brown skirt to go with what I'm wearing and realised what I'd done with it, so a quick freshen and iron and it's been 'saved'. To substitute two old painting tee shirts (why did I need two? I didn't, I still have No 3!) are in the cs sack.
