Hi
I cleaned out all the kitchen cupboards today so i got rid of loads of random, unused kitcheny junk.
Keep it up everyone the charity shops will be bursting soon with all these donations.
regards:j0 -
I've been in my 'departure lounge' for 6 hours today between 1 and 7 - that is what I call my study where I collect together all my clutter to be despatched.
Today I have been sorting through maps, guide books, other books and scrapbooking materials. I've also been shredding lots of paper, sharpening pencils and checking pens. As well as this I have been tidying my memory box - a wooden storage chest which contains things that belonged to my parents and my family that evoke memories - including letters and cards as well as a few physical items.
Tomorrow I will list the next lot of things that I have decluttered. I need to sort out where to store the things I have decided to keep for now.
I have a lot of books that I want to read before I give them away - perhaps another day I will spend a few hours reading.

33. Another end of a handwash into a bath. We have pets so we get through loads of handwash.:D
34. I had to change a battery in my weighing scales yesterday and so I looked through the DIY box where they were kept and threw away some random stuff. I can't even remember what it was now.
I did see the bag with the spare vacuum cleaner attachments and was going to throw them away but thought they may come in handy one day?HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

Still here and still chipping away at the mountain of 'stuff' I have. I've ground to a halt on the book sorting I was doing because I noticed that a supporting brace behind one of my kitchen cupboards - I live in an old house where straight, vertical and at right angles do not apply - has split and the cupboard is in danger of falling off the wall .
So the contents of said cupboard, my herbs, spices etc. are now strewn across the kitchen. Rather than my previous approach, which would have been to decant everything into a box, fix the cupboard and then put everything back in the cupboard, I'm going through it all.
Having this thread as inspiration I'm trying to think further than the immediate too.
I have loads of those small, tall spice jars that are shown in all the magazines from the 80's onwards as the way to store spices but I've finally realised that they don't work for me. I want something I can get a teaspoon into and because I usually batch cook, something that holds more than just a couple of teaspoons worth to boot.
I'd started collecting some really nice shaped sauce jars, (more clutter), but realised that if I do move back they are from a brand that isn't readily available in the UK. They also don't stack that well, they are just an attractive pot-belied shape. What I do use all the time and will continue using and can get replacements for and will be bringing a large stock with me back to the UK, are Le Parfait jars and jam jars.
So said spices are being checked for viability and then the various multiple jars of the same , combined into the said jam jars. I found 3 part used bottles of cloves for instance. The larger jars also mean I don't have to have a cupboard full of little jars plus a box full of opened packets waiting for me to transfer them, a couple of teaspoons at a time, into the little jars!!! :T
So this thread is working, not only am I getting rid of what I don't want but hopefully I'm making mindset changes that will reduce any further cluttering. I've given up logging what's going out but there is a steady stream of donations, binning and recycling going on here :j
So a big thank you to all posters as your achievements are inspiring me :TAiming for a Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade Budget

Hi all
Do any of you know what can be done with unwanted teddy bears?
I really want to recycle them instead of throwing them away. My local charity shops wont take them, and the one that will wants to use them as dog toys
Any ideas? I have a few bags worth to declutter.
