  • I've decided I need a target to work towards and I think 100 would be a good starting point. With this in mind I have managed to declutter the following today:-

    4. Big bag of clothes to my friend for her son
    5. Big bag of clothes to same friend which were passed to me by another friend.
    GC: Feb (16th Jan - 15th Feb) £46.25 / £50 :)
    Mar (16th Feb - 15th Mar) £61.96 / £70

Not really its hubby. He's a hoarder.

Well, take one chip of his plate for everyone thing he brings into the house without a good reason.

When he has no chips left on his plate he might get the hint!

  • I did some more decluttering last weekend, but was slightly less focused than previously. However, I'm not at work toady or tomorrow, so am determined to go through the house, room by room, being ruthless. There is a growing pile in the dining room of stuff to go to the CS, so tomorrow afternoon I'll pack up the car and drop everything off.

Right, cup of tea finished, better get on! Will report back later.....
  • Just stumbled across this thread and hoping it might give me some motivation. Our landlord put our home on the market in June so we're constantly living on 2 months notice. We've been here just over 2 years and have already accumulated so much. So far we'be decluttered

1 huge box & 1 huge bag of stuff to Cancer Research shop
Old double buggy picked up for free and no longer needed
Broken stroller sold for £5 on FB
Free gift set sold for £17 on eBay
An old cot mattress & 2 big bags of childrens clothes, shoes and baby goods is being donated to a Romanian charity this weekend
2 big bags of boys clothes handed over to my nephew.

What can I get done today!!

  • odd tupperware - binned
    rusty cookie cutter, gone
the last of the Christmas sweets - binned
the basket said sweets were sitting in - cs
surplus washing-ball thingies from the Persil - two to ferrets' toybox and the rest binned

that'll do for now.....half an hour well spent :)
  • Aura - take them to the charity shop anyway, separate them out and let them know they're for rags, they get paid per kg for waste textiles so they will still probably want them.

Magazines. I am brutal and just get rid. Tbh I just don't buy them anymore, it feels like such a waste of money and earths resources to have such a disposable source of entertainment. I think there is often better writing and content on lots of websites and blogs etc for free anyway. My professional journal I subscribe to as digital edition, which means I can use the search function to find what I need, although I'm less likely to just pick it up and read it casually which is the flip side. I get another professional journal sent via post which I don't pay for, but these just sit there in plastic making me feel guilty. Must go through those at some point :( dh also gets a journal he rarely reads which regularly need chucking out. Such a waste :(
  • Old broken dolls bin.
Crystal glasses that I have never liked to CS.
Lots of books and karate suit to CS
Old receipts burnt oldest from 2004:eek:
    Wicker baskets to CS.
Need to deal with my kitchen clutter but can't face it.:o
Death comes to us all. When he came to Mort, he offered him a job. MORT by Terry Pratchett.
  • I've spent all morning in my attic room. When I moved in boxes were put up there, and the many cupboards filled. That's the problem with lots of storage, I fill it! I've filled a couple of bags with old padded envelopes and packaging (spent a while peeling the labels off!) for free cycle. I've found a bag of bedding I forgot I had, so that's going to the CS, and I've filled a couple of bags with other bits and pieces. There's to be done, so back up I go for the afternoon!
