    7. Some Tupperware without bottoms and a lid
    8. Mug too far gone for cs
    9. Another bag of paperwork
    10. Gift set of famous grouse. Kept the miniature, glass and mat to cs

Also waiting to depart: the stairgate still!, 2 x old video players and the last 2 videos  will try them outside the house and then take to tip if they don't go

The numbering looks to be a good idea as it will help motivate me. I think I listed four lots yesterday.

    5. Sizeable bag of books going to CS

    6. Load of cardboard and packaging to bin and recycling.

    7. Christmas cards to recycling.

    8. 4 plastic bottles to recycling.

    9. Pile of college and uni prospectus for 2013 :(

    10. Chicken carcass from fridge is simmering in the stock pot.

Also have eaten the last 3 mince pies from the cake tin but I don't suppose they count!

I am enjoying seeing what you all get rid of as it gives me ideas.

Apparently I need to cook a meal now - shame as this is more fun :D

Credit card statements in theory I plan to keep for 2-3 years; In practice, ahem!

I am feeling really pleased with my decluttering today.

    I have managed to:
    * Shred various credit card statement from 2007 and onwards. How long do you keep your statements?
    * Recycle various instruction manuals, some for items we no longer have.
    * Shred paid utitility bills for previous addresses.
Similar day as first box of stoof out of room of requirements so
    55 various cc statements shredded
    56 ditto bank statements
    57 ditto old tax stoof
    58 ditto old pay slips
    59 ditto old car docs
60 old cheque books -> rc
Actually shredding stoof waiting in bag to do in work shredded - it'd burn our little domestic one out!

After being ill over the xmas break and back at work this week I have managed to start off another charity bag and thrown out a few things. I've been avoiding writing an assignment :D

  • Hi everyone, totally new to posting on the forums (literally joined like 5 minutes ago!) but I've been reading them for a month or so, picking up little hints and I must say that I'm really impressed by the commitment you all show (and the support you give each other when someone has a not so good day) and I'm really looking forward to joining in and getting to know you all - so my first step is to ask if I can please join this challenge? A little late, I know, but I've actually made a start today, and now feel really proud of myself and thought that if I shared it then it will (hopefully) keep me motivated to get rid of all the other unnecessary stuff I seem to have accumulated! So here goes:

#1-90: books/cds/video games sold online (albeit not for ridiculous amounts, but every penny I make is going towards bringing my debt-free date forward, so I'll take what I can get). These are now sitting in a box in my spare room, all ready for the courier to come and pick them up.

#91-192: more books, again sat in boxes in the spare room, ready for listing/car boot/charity.

While I am aware that all are technically still cluttering up the spare room, I'm still counting them as for me this is a HUGE achievement - I'm a total book hoarder lol.

I have just realised this thread sums my house up to a tee. No clutter can be seen, its all hiding in drawers, cupboards, sheds and wardrobes.
