Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi All
So 20 days to go till payday!! Ugh. I don't like to moan 'but' my husbands company deciding to put back his payday by 7 days after 3 years is a huge pain. We got paid on the 24th which is normal for us so we are not even in the long month due to early xmas pay thing this is purely a bad company decision. We are having to ring several companies to move DD dates which is a pain. Sorry to winge.

It's annoying as we have made so much progress in budgeting & reducing debt but I honestly can't see a way of making our budget work over 6 weeks instead of 5.

Ok, so I'm just totalling up my spends so far this months. I have added my shopping receipts upto a total of £93.97, meaning I SHOULD have £156.03 left for the rest of the months.....BUT I have just counted up my remaining cash and have a total of £160.77. Where has the extra £4.74 come from???? I'm obviously delighted that I have more left than I though, but have no idea why it doesn't balance!

    HAPPY FRI-YAY!! :j

What is everyone up to this weekend?

I'll be continuing with my Uni application, picking up the last few bits from my ma's to move to the new place (not sure how long I will be here though as my friend has just accepted an offer on the house today after a viewing yesterday evening), catching up with friend's, seeing OH, meal planning, looking out for homeless pennies and cleaning.

    Hit 6 SFDs today! :T

It will be a spendy day tomorrow- need to get a gift from me and my sister for my Mum's Birthday next week, find out how much it will cost to get my work shoes re-heeled, return a rubbish mobile car charger I bought before Christmas from Sainsbobs which does nothing, so a bit of money back! I received £9.47 of my £10 Annual Cash back reward from my grocery/fuel CC today- will put this towards my saving pot. The remaining 51p will be credited with the next statement. Think I will also cut my own hair over the weekend as it desperately needs a trim and I have my hair cutting clips- so another cash saving activity. :)

apple, Calling and Lilt - Thanks for your confirmations :)

blubella - Great back up plans, you sound determined to get through until payday! Good luck with the sales! Another early gift prepper- super inspiring!

Calling - Hope your blood donation goes well and you have a great evening out! You are so funny with your pyjama antics!!

cupcake-queen - Yep ebay sales where postage is paid for by the buyer (or you have included it in your sale price), will not lose you a spend free day. :) Woohooo, great news about being ahead on your target!

thrifty - Definitely take advantage of the work email for sale service!

Samiszel- Zumba is a great pick me up and a fun thing to do with friend's! I am really lucky as at work I get to take part in a zumba session once a week and get paid for it! :T

WelshKitty85 - Woooo another penny finder! :T And bonus money- have you figured out where that extra few pounds has come from?

mothernerd- Loving the not spending strategies you are looking to implement! Ultimate money saver! :)

CEW - Yay!! Hope it all goes through smoothly for you! And great progress on your goals already!! :j

apple- Hope DD feels better soon!!

Bobarella - It is amazing the difference a week can make when it comes to pay, especially when it is not your decision! Did your OH's company give any notice about plans to change the pay dates? Hope you get all your direct debits moved over smoothly and can re-tweak your budget!

millionaire in training- Glad you are feeling tested by this challenge and that you are enjoying it! :)

Right an earlier night tonight. It makes no sense that I go to bed earlier the night before a day off than I do when I have work the next day... haha!

    Happy Weekend! Keep Saving! :money:

  • Well not checked in for a day or two, lots been happening, after dragging myself to GP and confessing to having a lump in neck for few weeks it's all panic now! Emergency appointments, X-rays, tests etc. so with all of that I did chalk up another 2 SFD .
But did do my grocery shopping from local suppliers for next 10 days and it came to 118.00! In my defence we are away on a wee self catering break till Wednesday and had to leave supplies at home too for DS.
Going to keep my eye out for road kill while having long walks with dog .
I just love reading all your updates well done everyone .

Racing hope you get an answer on your lump soon and that it turns out to be nothing to worry about it.

Today will be a Spendy day as have a meal out for a friend's birthday tonight. Going to combine my soends and do the food shop this morning to hopefully preserve tomorrow as a SFD.

Off to the gym in a minute to crack on with the 10k training and then hopefully some dog walking later but it's so windy here atm I wonder if we'll get very far!

  • Loveadove happy to do the March month. Thinking cap already on!

8 SFD's so far. Would have been another one yesterday if it wasn't for the wind. Down at the OH's this weekend so got the train yesterday. Although I didn't. Got to the station nice and early, tickets and parking pre budgeted for so I don't count them. Sat nicely in the waiting room waiting for the train when I hear mumblings of replacement bus.

The first train was cancelled. The bus had no arrival time at the station and my connecting train and the time to get to it was getting shorter and shorter. Stood outside waiting for the bus when a couple of us decided to get a taxi to the next working station, cost four pound.

Not too upset because still on target to get this month's SFD's. Not a lot else to report. Made it safely to Devon and looking forward to spending the weekend with the OH and my new daughter.

Getting low on my five kilos of lentils that I found last year sometime. Making lentil soup for every LTW. I love it. I actually will the clock to move faster to get to an acceptable lunchtime!

DS is better than me at finding road kill. He loves going into amusement arcades, not to use any of the machines, but just to search for 2ps that have dropped. Last time we went on holiday DS and DD came home with nearly £10 between them just from what they found in the arcade. :j

I'm wondering if I didn't empty my purse before I started the challenge. I thought I had just left £1.50 in it that I owed my mum for something she picked up for me, but maybe there was more than that? I was pretty sure I had emptied the rest into my savings jar but I can't think where else it would have come from. Everything I have purchased has been cash and everything I have sold, the money has gone straight into a dedicated jar. But at least I am over and not under!

Racing hope all is ok with the lump. I found one in my neck about 5 months ago and was terrified, but it turned out to be nothing, so hopefully will be the same for you.

Racing - hope everything works out OK with the lump

Should be going to the park with dgds after lunch, I have prepared a shep pie for our dinner tonight, so today should be a sfd, but won't claim one yet!!

Really windy here but nothing like in Scotland, I don't know how I would cope with it I would be worried about roof tiles coming off and things flying about everywhere, anyway if you're in one of these areas I'm thinking about you and hope everything is OK for you.

Dd 3 just turned up so will report in later on.
