Declaring my last no spend month of the year. ( I know this is a little early but I won't be buying any clothes ( unless I am using a Christmas voucher/ money ) because I apart my Christmas money - all other money has been allocated elsewhere and I will be strong.
    So ...
I have hit my target of 6 months Of no clothes spends. And I have come in £81 under target. (£519) woo Hoo!

Yes, Fedupandskint thank you for running the thread this year.

Thank you Mavvy-moo. I am pleased with my result but there are others who have done far better than me - had more No Spend months and spent less than me, who should wear the Crazy clothes challenge crown.

  • Declaring spend for the year £328.85. My original budget - plucked from thin air & clearly unrealistic - was £120. This challenge has really helped me be more conscious about my spending - I know that I have bought a lot less (especially from Charity Shops) than I would have otherwise. Thank you fedupandskint for running this thread. I'm definitely up for doing it again next year.

I just did a little analysis of my spending (when I should have been doing my accounts :rotfl:) - I found the results quite interesting. (I realise this is probably of little interest to anyone else so apologies.)

I only bought about half a dozen items new (including 2 pairs of shoes) but this accounted for around half of my spend. The rest came from Charity Shops.

About 3 additional items that I bought new developed faults within a week or so, so I returned them. (not counted in budget)

About £35 of spending was a mistake and these items will end up being given away to a CS (nearly half of that amount was spent on a brand new fleece that I bought online but the material turned out to be a cat hair magnet ).

£80 worth of clothes I haven't worn yet (mostly because I bought Summer stuff when the season changed - £50 of that was a dress I bought new).

So my conclusion is ... Charity Shops are great and I am fully justified in my devotion to them & it's probably only worth me buying shoes & underwear new ! :) :A

  • Hi All - I would love to do this challenge again next year. What should we do about setting up a new thread? (or is there one that I've missed) I'm happy to set one up but don't want to tread on anyone's toes (don't know the protocol). Also never set up a thread (other than my own diary) before so may need some guidance. Or I guess we could stay on here.

What does everyone think? I really want to do the challenge again next year - it has helped me so much !

  • Hi All, I agree with you Somerandom, I would love to do it too. Perhaps if no one else has done it by tomorrow or objects, you should set it up. You could copy and paste some of the intro from last year.

Ill be in again if there is a new thread. I set up a savings account last Jan 1st which I transferred £25 per month into, specifically for the 2016 CCC so i'm ready to go with £300 burning a hole in my, errr, savings account :D lol

I completely blew my budget last year, but I don't plan on doing that again!!

    Happy new year everyone.
