The Completely Crazy 2015 Clothes Challenge

Just found this thread but not too late as from reading the posts it seems I have beaten most people before I started.
I bought no new shoes for 5 years, this year I got a pair for £7 but still wearing the old ones
Same applies to cloths, I bought none for years, this year I got a pair of John Lewis Chinos new with labels from Charity Shop, I will not mention them as they have recently put up their prices to stupid levels, is now cheaper to go to shops or eBay.
I do not have a budget for clothes, I replace them when it is necessary, but if nobody is going to see my Anti-P encrusted T-Shirt in the winter I will keep wearing it.
Do you buy clothes as something to do and stick them in your wardrobe without trying them on and leave them unworn?
No
Do you wish you could spend less on clothes?
If Possible but I hardly spend anything as it is
Are you tempted by the sales to spend and buy clothes you don't need?
No, I only buy when there is 70% off and the starting price is reasonable (Max starting Price £30) I do not have the storage so I only BUY WHAT I NEED NOT WHAT I WANT (my mantra)
Do you have clothes in your wardrobe you don't wear?
No, I move them to my suitcase as my wardrobe is tiny
I have a further economy, I wear the clothes until they smell or are visibly untidy, this saves on washing costs. I do change underwear twice a day so not a smelly git.fedupandskint wrote: »Another year and yes, another crazy clothes challenge!
Come on and join in as we attempt to keep the success we achieved going for a further 12 months at least!

A little about me. I ran the challenge last year and we had many members pledging to stick to their personal budgets for the year ahead along with many successes of no clothes spends months.
I stuck to my budget, just spending £86/£100.
I had 7 no spend months on clothes :rotfl:
My focus is paying off a long term unsecured loan once more this next year. I've repaid an additional 28% in the last year and aiming to do at least the same this next year. I'll set the same budget again for 2015 at £100 as that's my priority rather than buying new clothes.
Things that don't count for me are buying outdoor/walking clothes which I save up for or use birthday or Christmas money. I save up using £2 coins to pay into the bank so it takes some time to save up and I have to make sure I really want and need the thing I'm spending on and it gives me time to make this decision.
Who's up for it?
Who wants to reign in their spends?
Believe me it can be done, a few years ago I would never have imagined I could have 7 months with no spends on clothes. For the last 2 years its worked a treat for me in helping me control my spending and focus on my priority which is paying off all my unsecured debt.
You can join any time, we had members joining in November and December, it's never too late to join! Thanks, don't you just hate people with sigs !0 -
David Well done to you but your regime is one step above what I could do :T
Well done to all with the weight losses :TNew wardrobe coming your way me thinks
A couple of buys for me a lovely Brown leather jacket £5
3 new pairs of leggings £2 a pair
A skirt for £3 (will sell that one)
A laura Ashley Black long wool riding coat £7:T
Grey Suede ballet style shoes with a bit of bling £3
I am now telling myself I do NOT need another item of clothing this side of Christmas and most likely not until Christmas 2020
Good luck

Welcome Davidp24. Reading your thread is like listening to my husband. He has retired early and his needs for different types of clothes has reduced.
He only believes in replacing clothes when he really needs to.
Did you use to spend a lot on clothes and then decide to stop spending because you had too many? Or have you always been frugal?
Are you retired? Do you wear a uniform to work? For eight years I wore a uniform provided and therefore needed less clothes. I find it amazing that someone can go five years without buying any clothes.2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

I've done really badly at this challenge this year but I'll be back in January to try again.
Sorry.:oTurn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you.0 -
Three of the four jumpers I ordered have arrived and they are lovely. I've updated my siggy which as you know was already over what I'd planned for the year.
I think the approach I will take next year is not necessarily to have a strict budget but to look in charity shops first when I NEED something before splurging in the big names (which is what I did with the jumpers actually).Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Well done Somerandom on losing the weight ( and keeping it off ) I lost several stone five years ago but it has all crept back on. Psyching myself up to do it again!!.
Thanks GemGem.
You've done it before so can do it again. I lost my weight using a Hypnotherapy App. One of the best things I ever did. No diet & my relationship with food has completely changed.
I decided to keep the Cardigan that I was going to take back to TK Maxx so £29.99 to add to my total spend. I won £25 on the Lottery the other day so figured that the win almost paid for it.Shifting my energy for 20200 -
I've not posted much but have been keeping to my clothes budget for 2015 - I still have £16 left and can't believe I have managed to spend so little this year.
I hope to join this challenge again next year but will probably increase my budget as I do need to replace some of my clothes as they are either wearing out or I am fed up of wearing the same ones.
I never thought I would be able to stick to a £200 budget as usually I do enjoy clothes shopping and have an extensive wardrobe (shoes are my downfall) so I'm really pleased to have got this far.
