  • Well done Mavvy - sounds like something has clicked for you.

I, on the other hand, have bought a gorgeous Gharani Strok dress & a lovely Top Shop Skirt - grey wool with multi-coloured polka dots & a funky dress / tunic top with Cats on it which I wore as a tunic top at the weekend with skinny jeans (originally came from a trendy shop in Soho - pretty sure that I'm not in the age range for their normal customer base but who cares - I felt great in it). That lot set me back £13 in total all from Charity Shops of course.

I'm just popping by to thank you all for this challenge. Although I haven't posted much on here, I have adhered to my £200 budget and have amazed myself that I have remained within the budget.

I would love to do this challenge again next year but think I will have to increase the target amount a little as many of my clothes do now need replacing:o

    Thanks again:T

    Hi All,
I know that my budget is much more than most people's on this challenge but I am really pleased with my results. Before I joined CCC I could easily spend around £100+ a month on clothes (incl shoes and coats) and it was starting to increase and get out of control (for me). I am counting down the days till the end of the month and hoping to bag the last No spend month - hitting my target of 6 months with no spends and bringing my spend under budget. It is going to be hard with the sales coming up... but I will think positive and try to be strong.
Thank you fedupandskint for running this thread. Thank you to everyone for making me smile and not feel alone on this journey.

Thank you Mav and good luck with your personal quest. I do find doing the 6 months of NO spends a real challenge but very satisfyingly. I found it helps to break the habit of buying clothes every time you go shopping. At first, I literally had to take it a day at a time and the first month dragged by. I realise now that it becomes like an addiction.

  • Hello
Been lurking this year, reading the thread and being amazed at how strong you all are!
You would be disgusted if you could see what I have been spending.
Is there going to be a thread in 2016 that I could (and should) join??

Spent today pondering whether some spends from yesterday fell into this budget or not, and decided they do.

Bought a bumbag to wear while at work (only way I can carry all my essentials while delivering post, and the one I had broke whilst an 'on belt' pouch is about to fall to pieces). I also bought a very compact purse to use in it - much better than lose coins and notes in a pocket of a bumbag which is how I've been working for 6 weeks!!

Decided they come into clothing, as a handbag would.....

Those take me to a £78.61 spend for the year, and leaves me with 7 months with no spends on anything to declare :T

January was my trainers, July was my waterproof trousers, August was trousers for work, October was warm hats for work, and this month was bumbag & purse.

Would have liked to have seen more no spend months, but 3 were work items only that I couldn't foresee a need for so I'm happy enough.

Looking forward to doing this again in 2016, and plan to have a think over the next few days as to what items will be on my 'allowable purchases' list in readiness (prefer to work that way than have a pre-set monetary budget).
    Cheryl
