I've been sorting through my stuff and saw that my favourite boots & fit flops had both died :-(. I managed to get the exact same boots for half price and the replacement fit flops were £15.00 off. Between the two of them they are basically what I will wear on my feet for most of the year but it's a huge dent to my budget - in fact I've got less than £30 for the rest of the year and it's only 6 weeks in  I wasn't expecting to have to replace footwear when I set such a low budget but when i think about it - I didn't HAVE to replace them - I could have made do with the other footwear I have. Oh well - I've made my choice - let's see how far I get with the remaining budget...

If that's what you will mainly wear all year, and you love them AND got some money off it was probably money well spent.

  • I can't wait for spring so I can pack away some winter stuff and see some clothes I've not seen for a while. It will feel like having new clothes :-)

  • Thanks Rowan - that's what I thought when I was buying them - it was only afterwards that I started to think - OMG I've spent over half of my budget !!! When I started this challenge it was mostly about trying to control myself in Charity Shops & that aspect is going well.

I know how you feel about the Spring / Summer clothes. Mine will be getting an early airing - I'm having a "Cuba" party in a couple of weeks & I'm asking everyone to wear their summer clothes & pretend we're on holiday - I'm going to put the heating up high for the night, play Latin music & serve mojitos - really looking forward to wearing one of my summer dresses :j

Went to my favourite shop to buy a new blouse with corn flowers on but alas they didn't have my size and there was none in the warehouse :0(
I first saw it in the new year but didn't get it as I wanted wait to see if I really wanted it.

  • Well my replacement boots & fit flops arrived and I'm very pleased with them (the fit flops are even nicer than my old pair) so I feel that I did the right thing buying them. I guess part of the process of this challenge is working out what good and bad buys are for you. These were definitely good buys.

  • Somerandom your feet will be happy and thanking you all year ;)

I've had a little spend today - couldn't help looking in the charity shop and got a grey Jeager linen top for £3.75. I'm thinking 'capsule wardrobe' and that grey will be my neutral colour, probably accented with soft greens, blues and lavender.

Put on a pair of cargo trousers and a sporty cardigan that didn't fit last year - great to have some of my wardrobe back. When I get back from holiday- need to lose more weight - another 3/4 of a stone and I will be able to access more of my wardrobe - it will be like having a new wardrobe!! Mind you some other clothes will become too loose. Has anyone else managed to get into old clothes?

Nice to hear that you have had a successful couple of purchases. It is always very satisfying when you find a replacement that you are happy with.

Well done you! I'm not quite there yet but started the 5:2 diet last week so hoping by summer that everything will fit better.

Hi Gem-Gem - I successfully lost a lot of weight a couple of years ago using a hypnotherapy app. I remember what a nice feeling it was when I fitted into everything in the wardrobe. Then I carried on losing and ended up having to buy a complete new wardrobe, luckily I sourced most things through Charity Shops. Two years on I've kept the weight off but only now have slowed down on the CS buying thanks to this thread.
