Virgo - my sw consultant suggests when you fancy a naughty treat have a clementine/satsuma first - chances are by time you've ate one youll no longer fancy a naughty?
Maybe look at the free food list and pick items you'll pick at eg ham pickles?
And remember you can still have choc/crisp/cheese etc nothing is forbidden
If you post what your choice of treat would be Ie choc or crisps I'm sure we can compile a list of low syn versions so you can get the most for your daily allowance
Welcome to all newbies xxx

Nice one wiz . Hopefully I have made it red for you.virgomaiden wrote: »Good morning everyone!
This is Day One! A very important day! I weighed myself this morning and marked my calendar.
Breakfast so far has been porridge with water, splash of milk and sweetener. Cup of tea.
Why is it that the minute you tell yourself that you are changing your eating habits, food becomes your sole focus and you clock watch til you can eat again! This is ridiculous.....is it really an addiction that needs to be overcome. Any tips anyone?
I know keeping busy can help so the time has come to declutter and spring clean corners, cupboards, clothes and toys. Something I have been meaning to do for months.
The plan is that in the evenings, when I normally sit on my back side watching telly, eating crisps, chocs, grilled cheese etc I will use an hour each night to empty and sort something.
There will be regular progress reports as I have almost a craving to keep some sort of diary and I hope that this will satisfy that need.
I think keeping busy is a big factor. I am on the decluttering/spring cleaning too. Do you have a hobby that you can maybe do on an evening whilst watching tv - I cross stitch thinking it will keep my hands occupied but us women are great at multi-tasking. Keep some low syn/free snacks handy that will sometimes prevent you from entering the 'danger zone'.
Keep posting here - I am sure that is another big factor in having success for a lot of us.

Morning all
Hugs to those feeling poorly or stressed, hope everyone else is having a good weekend.
Yesterday's new start went fairly well, I ended up using all 15 syns. I was pleased to have kept within that even if I was to the max! My aim is to continue counting syns accurately and stay at 10 or below.
After posting about the questionnaire last night I got DH to do it and he was 42% constant craver and 58% feaster but like someone else said, he felt the need to qualify some of his answers as they weren't always quite right and I think my influence has changed him from being 100% feaster.
He is different to me as he can go for long periods without eating anything and not feel hungry. It's usually when he starts eating that he realises he was hungry and then he wants to eat loads. And whereas I frequently think about food from the point of view of planning meals and shopping, he doesn't give it much thought unless I force him to, i.e. before we go shopping!
I've always been overweight, but when I met DH and in our early years of marriage he was the right weight for his height. That changed in 1986 when we both gave up smoking and he gained 2 stone and his weight has yoyo'd ever since.
He only needs to lose another stone to get to where he wants to be and it won't take him long, I'm in it for the long haul.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend. I'm going to find something to take my mind off food and give it a rest!

Hiya
Welcome Virgomaiden, those are great reasons to lose weight, and you can do it. Feel free to ask questions, share menus and join in the chat! By the way, I'm a Virgo too, what date is your birthday?
Pennylane - I've just done the test too. I couldn't get it to work when the link was first posted, but it worked this time. It says I'm very overweight (surprise surprise), a constant craver and should do intermittent dieting, the 5:2 diet in other words.
I have considered doing 5:2 but if I eat very low amounts of food my blood sugar levels drop and I start feeling really weak. That's ok if I'm having a quiet day at home, but not if I'm working or out and about.
It happened this week - I had porridge for breakfast, then h/m made veg soup for lunch, walked down to the beach bar for a coffee and then really struggled to walk back.
When I was a teenager I used to faint on a regular basis and it was always because I'd skipped meals!
LL
Eta: my BMI was 36.40. I'll be happy to get below 30 and I need to lose another 4 stone to get there.
You must be my long lost twin!! :rotfl: I was ALWAYS fainting as a teenager and young adult. I used to eat quite irregularly and never ate breakfast so it was no surprise.
Now I have to eat about every 5 hours ..... Breakfast, lunch and evening meal. I never eat between meals. If I don't eat regularly I feel really lightheaded.
I've had Oatbran and banana for breakfast.
Lunch is going to be lean pork, SW roasties, leeks, carrots, broccoli, One small yorkie (synned) and a bit of gravy (synned)
I am making SW rice pudding for dessert.
I have been out and walked 2 miles while the pork was roasting so I don't know what else I can do to lose more weight.0 -
Some very inspirational posts on here. I love all the positivity.:Agreentiger wrote: »Well football today - and we are likely to get hammered. Ho hum. However, I have a bean stew in the slow cooker for when we get home, frozen and depressed. It will help with heating us up, but I don't think it will lift the spirits
On the other hand, our adopted motto is "Expect the Unexpected", so you never know.
Our motto is 'We march on!!' which is quite apt for SW too and includes a bit of BM!;)
I had a thought that those of you talking about 5:2 could try a SW version of 2 days of EESP and 5 normal EE (or other plan of your choosing). Might be worth trying/planning for.Well, I got weighed and I lost 1lb :T sorry I can't change the colour to RED keep trying. Hope today will be a good one
That's great wiz and all the other losses I've read on my catch up.:TBeyond stressed at the mo
Lost the plot
So sorry to read that mildredd, that's all you need on top of feeling ill as well. Try to focus on the positives in your life: there's your mini me, the BF and US!!!:D
Sorry you've had to take to your bed tie. Hopefully you'll feel better later.:)
My lunch out yesterday was totally off plan. When I thought back a teeny weeny bit of salad garnish was it's only redeeming feature.:o Anyhow, line drawn and I now have a run until Thursday evening back on plan. Yesterday evening I just had a bowl of soup (still feeling stuffed) and didn't carry on with the wine syns either so that helped to offset lunch.
Today's EE plan:
B: NAS Ribena, HEA milk, scrambled egg
L: probably JP with cottage cheese and beetrootJO roast pork on a bed of veg with roast potatoes, parsnips, cauli and broccoli
Syns: weekend wine;) and HM gravy
I've got a HEB going begging so may have an Alpen Light with a cuppa at some point.0
