The Turkey burgers were nice and moist. Recipe said three small courgettes, well we don't do small around here :rotfl: what does a small courgette look like? I used just one about 8" long.

Love Turkey burgers.. That one's going on my list for this week :T:T

    Thanks Penny!

Shala - I would add "always sit at the table to eat" to your list.

I find I enjoy my food and eat more slowly when I sit at the table rather than on the sofa watching TV! When I'm on the sofa I don't really think about what I'm eating, it just goes in, chew, swallow and repeat.

Well done, gbatey, durham and Sally.

    What a lovely NSV, mich.

Sorry you’ve had a disappointment, Shortie.

That’s great new, angela – real win/win. Nice to meet you.

Cheer up, treeny, and enjoy your birthday. When it’s past you can get back on the horse/wagon/bus or whatever you prefer.

Well football today - and we are likely to get hammered. Ho hum. However, I have a bean stew in the slow cooker for when we get home, frozen and depressed. It will help with heating us up, but I don't think it will lift the spirits :p On the other hand, our adopted motto is "Expect the Unexpected", so you never know.

    Enjoy your day. folks

    Morning all

SW weeks start on Saturdays for me as WI is Friday, so after spending most of yesterday beating myself up and sulking because I stayed the same I gave myself a good thinking to (that's a mental talking to :D).

Shala - thanks for your list, they are the kind of things I was reminding myself of yesterday, in an effort to talk myself out of a day of pigging out on synful stuff.

So from today I'm going to write everything down and be more accurate in counting syns. I think that's where my plans fall down, and that's the most important bit really.

My meals aren't that different to what I was having before. Lean meat isn't new to my shopping list and neither is fruit and veg, I do eat healthily, so it's obviously the additional food that's causing the trouble, and while I'm in control of foods that can be classed as Healthy Extras, I'm not being honest with myself about syns, particularly wine syns. :o

I'm also going to increase the amount of SF foods, or prioritise them in place of free carbs wherever I can.

    So today's menu:

Lunch: w/m wrap (HEB) with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, spring onion, ham, 3 olives and half avocado (? syns).
Dinner: chilli pasta bake - leftover chilli con carne plus a tin of chopped tomatoes mixed with pasta and a sprinkle of grated cheese (HEA).

The chilli contains peppers, tomatoes and onions plus extra tomatoes - is that enough SF food for EE or should I have more salad with dinner?

Out tonight and I might just have tonic light (had a bit more wine than I should have last night as we went to a friends for dinner).

To everyone else that's struggling, come on, we CAN do this!

Funnily enough I heard on the radio in the week that this is a tough week for people kick starting their healthy eating etc after xmas and New Year and a lot of people drop off now as it is difficult. Seems like quite a few of us on here are hitting that barrier. I was good until last night and then for some unknown reason I had to have a big bar of galaxy - gone in minutes and although tasty actually made me feel depressed for blowing all my syns for yesterday and the weekend on a stupid bar of chocolate. So cross with myself.

Shala and Lois I think I will follow your example and remind myself why I am doing thiis and what I want to achieve.

    1. I want to lose 1 stone by end of Feb and I am already 40% of the way there in two weeks.
    2. I want to be able to wear my red dress to the party I am going to at the end of March and probably need to do another 1/2 stone in March to achieve this.
    3. I will stick to my meal plans.
    4. I won't buy or scoff huge bars of galaxy and instead have some free foods.
    5. Weigh all my healthy extras and syns and not wing it.

That should do it for now.

Thank you for all the welcome messages and wishes. I have to say that reading all your posts makes it all seem more doable although have to admit that I am not struggling or wavering so far. Going on previous history, this is amazing for me. I feel totally committed and not at all deprived on this eating plan. I did watch the 3 part show on BBC2 about the Right Diet which was very interesting - did the online test and I am a Constant Craver apparently. Think some of the tips on the shows have boosted me including eating more slowly and thoughtfully - I was always first to finish meals ever since I was a child. I also drink much more water each day or SF squash. I do think that my omitting bread as well as helping with joint pains either directly or indirectly, also curbs my desire for other carb loaded things so all is good.
Just eaten a big salad with some smoked mackerel for lunch and feel great. Hope everyone else has good food and good WI next time. BTW I am looking to lose about 3 stone more to really feel good about myself . Cheers.
