  • The SW approach seems to be if you are losing weight then they don't care what you do with your syns, however if you stop losing weight they will blame your lack of syns or saving syns and binging at the weekends on them.

When I first started I had the same problem as you, I have 15 and I wasn't really having any syns at all until teatime, all the recipes are low syn or free.

I try and incorporate 5 healthy syns into the day, usually ryvita crackers or scan bran and some light dairylea.

I was having issues recently with snacking on chocolate and eating too much, 2 syns was nice per celebration but easy to eat an extra few and then a few more.

So I'd suggest trying to incorporate some syns into the day, maybe have a jammie dodger (4) or a couple of party rings (3 for 2 rings).

Because it seems daft feeling full but feeling like you should eat a Mars Bar because you have 13 syns left.

3 Syns for 2 party rings, thats amazing and will defenatly take me back to my childhood. I remember having them in my birthday partys growing up.
I think maybe as it was my first week, it didn't seem right to have a chocolate or a packet of crisps but maybe I'll get used to the idea.

    My meal plan today is

    B- Fruit and a mullerlight
L- Pork chop, beans, mushrooms and eggs
D- Jacket potato with a tuna salad
    HEA- 2 Babybel
HEB- Special K chewy delight bar

    Syns Extra Light Mayo (1)
Decided to save the rest for the weekend.

Thanks everyone for the advise, its good to know theres support out there.
    Make £10 a day in May- £90/£150

Slimming World, Weightwatchers and other weight loss companies realise that if people are not allowed to have occasional treats they soon fall off the wagon!

It also follows the 'everything in moderation' advice, so don't feel bad about using syns, you will only crave them if you don't have them.

Lois re the Chinese, go for something fairly plain with boiled rice like Chicken & Green Pepper in black bean or Beef with Mushrooms something like that. All the syns are on the website now, think they've all been put up. Chow Mein used to be relatively low syn but not anymore : (

I just always throw caution to the wind and get whatever I feel like if its my only naughty meal in the week. But if your trying to be good, boiled rice and something not deep fried in a light sauce is def your best bet. Avoid the prawn crackers there a disaster!

Unbelievable! Who'd have thought a ryvita would be as fattening as a chocolate biscuit? Goes to show how easy it is to convince yourself you should be losing weight because you eat crispbread, and it's full of calories albeit healthy ones.

My DH would be more likely to eat all the ryvita and leave me the biscuits, he prefers savoury snacks.

    LL :)

You'll never believe it but after I had my ONE Ryvita he finished off the rest of the packet! Only got a packet of Morrie's own brand ones left - no idea what they're like but they're about 2/3rds the price of Ryvita so very :money.

Have just eaten my LO soup with pasta and it was very yummy - that's the last of that one gone. Have now made a curried lentil, parsnip (with Ald! SS parsnips:money:) & apple soup which I'll portion up and get into the freezer. May leave a couple of portions out to have for lunch later this week; think this one probably fits in with EESP as well so may have a go at that tomorrow in the hopes of getting a good loss at Thursday WI.

I'm happy to report a 1.5 lb loss this week:beer:

I had my gym induction last week and attended my first session yesterday. I didn't feel I had worked hard so was surprised to be hot and sweaty at the end of it! I've also increased my walking to over a half mile a day. This is a big deal for me as only a year ago I used a walker to get about - and I couldn't go far with that!

For breakfast this morning I had ham, eggs, mushrooms and onions.

lunch, I wasn't really hungry so just had a salad with celery sticks with a scraping of peanut butter on. Plus some Wensleydale cheese.

dinner tonight I'm going to make Chinese chicken vegetable egg noodle soup. If I'm still hungry, which is unlikely I will have some Total 0% yogurt with blueberries and a bit of sweetener.

    Have a good week everyone!
Ps, I eat low carb so don't worry about the lack of A and B choices!
When life hands you lemons, ask for tequilla and salt and give me a call!!!

Yes, exactly! I hate when they do that, we have one like that, always comments and I hate it. Thanks for this, you are right. I might just do that, weigh and go, saves the "and what are you going to do this week to ensure a weight loss next week" questions

I would have a quiet word with your consultant and say how you feel about their comments and that it is putting you off coming to class and maybe it can be brought to the weighers attention (in a general sort of way with no names mentioned). During Image Therapy, our consultant usually says how long members have been attending and how much they have lost in that time. Well my friend says she always wishes that she wouldn't say how long she has been doing SW as she feels that she hasn't done as well as others (just under 2st in 9 months so nothing to be embarrassed about). I have have told her to mention to consultant but she never does. She wasn't going to stay to class last night just in case she had a gain. I have been planning on having a quite word with consultant to mention how she feels but I dont want to go behind her back. Our consultant is absolutely lovely and would be shocked to find out that friend was embarrassed/uncomfortable by what was being said. My friend is happy with what she has lost and says if she hadn't been doing SW she would have probably been a couple of stones heavier.

Antibiotics haven't kicked in fully yet :/
Plus side to antibiotics - not being able to eat for an hour after taking them so 4 hours of the day is now blocked out for snacking and the rest of the time Im just not feeling the love for food at all xxx

So its win win then Mildredd - hopefully meds will kick in and make you feel better and 4 hrs no snacking time :j :rotfl::rotfl:

    -3lb

I've been searching but can't seem to find a definate answer but I have a night out on Saturday which is bound to include drinks and there is a hogroast.
Can I save my syns so that the damage will not be so bad??

    Brilliant loss helen :T.

Some people on thread do save their syns for weekend drinkies etc (maman cough cough) and it works well for them. It might not be a SW approved method but it is a case of whatever works for you. Enjoy is what I say. ;)

Well the carrot and beetroot soup didn't happen as we were too late back from s-i-l's so it was bacon, eggs, beans and mushrooms followed by half apple, half pear and satsuma.

Don't know what is happening for evening meal but can go either way, EE or EESP so far. Decisions decisions :think:

Might read a few more posts and then get off my butt and get something done.

Just had a shock. A white wrap is NINE syns. Had bit of leftover SW quorn curry from last night and hubby and me had that with a wrap each which were lurking in the freezer.

Then I looked it up. I could have had a large slice of bread for 4.5!!
  • Chinese food is in the book, chicken in black bean and boiled rice is about 8 syns, it looks like they've put the syns up but they've also put the portion sizes up, presumably to make them a little more realistic.

If something bothers you about the staff, tell them. I don't think any of them are being mean intentionally. Ours always says something positive even if you've had a gain, a girl has gained the last two weeks but she's still lost 4 stone overall, so its a good achievement.

When they say how long you've been going, I think they're trying to introduce you to the new members and encourage them a little.

Syns: just checked pub menu and JPs seem to have disappeared so may be forced to have chips and probably wine syns. Oh well, back on it seriously tomorrow.

    Isn't life a b!tch maman. :rotfl::rotfl: Enjoy ;)
