Worth noting the weigh in woman who constantly makes the snide comments to everyone - including oh wow you did have a good Christmas!!
In the 16 months I've been going to fat club she's actually heavier than when I startedso I'd say a touch of jealously perhaps
None of their business anyway
When I'm asked am I getting back on it this week I pull a face and say oooh I'm not sure I'll see how the week goes Started sw 02/09/13 - total loss so far -5st 1lb
New Year New You Challenge - /6lb0 -
I haven't posted this week but have been lurking trying to pick up some hints and tips.
My first week has gone well, I haven't felt at all deprived but have been finding that I am eating syns for the sake of it as I've felt like I've ate enough.
I had my first weigh in this morning and I can report a movement of
-3lb
Don't know where the button has gone on my laptop to make that bigger!!
I've been searching but can't seem to find a definate answer but I have a night out on Saturday which is bound to include drinks and there is a hogroast.
Can I save my syns so that the damage will not be so bad??Make £10 a day in May- £90/£1500 -
:T to bellkat and ginvzt. All losses count!!jockosjungle wrote: »Well weigh in tonight, my own scales are showing a 4lb loss so hoping for something half decent tonight. Our SW scales seem to vary massively though, sometimes I get 3lbs I was not expecting. I'm hoping I can tip the scales at 13st 11lb and get a new sticker!
Fingers crossed you'll have your new sticker jock. EE seems to suit you:).Maman I need to get strict with myself but just can't seem to at the minute, this cold weather isn't helping.
I really find that doing a meal plan helps me both SW and mse.:money: It stops me having to think too much about what I'm going to eat, sort of get it all done in one go when I'm doing the mealplan.durham_mim wrote: »Morning all, had lovely evening with DS last night despite him feeling under the weather, its either something he ate at the restaurant the other night (but his sisters had the same)or he has got a sickness bug.
I have got a bit of a head cold and my throat is feeling sore this morning, but plodding on.
Envying the mussels. I adore them but am also partial to the chips and mayo that come with them in French restaurants.:o
Sorry you aren't feeling much better yet mildredd. You have to come out of this with a loss as a silver lining. When do you start the classes with the family?
We're lucky that the lady who does the weighing is very tactful. She seems to be able to conjure up a smile which fits your mood depending on what the scales are saying. Try and develop a thick skin mumoftwo. But I do get heartily fed up with the same words being trotted out. Is there anything to stop you this week??
This is my EE plan:
B: NAS Ribena, scrambled eggs, HEA milk
L: ham and LO fried veg, beetrootsteak, salad, JP
Syns: just checked pub menu and JPs seem to have disappeared so may be forced to have chips and probably wine syns. Oh well, back on it seriously tomorrow.
ETA: have a HEB going begging. may have Alpen Lights with a cuppa at some time.0 -

Well done Helen!!
Briefly, yes you can save syns. It's not the 'official' SW way but it definitely works. I think it's frowned on because some people just need a daily fix of syns to keep them going.
Your other option is to just go off plan for the day/meal and then get straight back on. It'll probably mess up next week's WI but if it's that or have a miserable evening???
Hogroast isn't so bad if you keep away from those tasteless breadrolls and the crackling!0 -
Its not really the meals that are the problem its the snacking and syns I have no control over at the minute, just want to eat everything! Motivation will return at some stage I'm sure, for now I'm just trying to keep my hand in and not gain anymore!
Moules frites, yum! The last time I ordered them out I asked them to bring green beans instead of the chips, that's how on it I was back then!0 -
Not sure about syns as DH ate all the choc digestives last nigh - I didn't even get the one I'd planned on so ended up with a sweet onion Ryvita with a scrape of butter (for the same syns as a choc digestive - definitely not the same:rotfl:)

Unbelievable! Who'd have thought a ryvita would be as fattening as a chocolate biscuit? Goes to show how easy it is to convince yourself you should be losing weight because you eat crispbread, and it's full of calories albeit healthy ones.
My DH would be more likely to eat all the ryvita and leave me the biscuits, he prefers savoury snacks.

The SW approach seems to be if you are losing weight then they don't care what you do with your syns, however if you stop losing weight they will blame your lack of syns or saving syns and binging at the weekends on them.
When I first started I had the same problem as you, I have 15 and I wasn't really having any syns at all until teatime, all the recipes are low syn or free.
I try and incorporate 5 healthy syns into the day, usually ryvita crackers or scan bran and some light dairylea.
I was having issues recently with snacking on chocolate and eating too much, 2 syns was nice per celebration but easy to eat an extra few and then a few more.
So I'd suggest trying to incorporate some syns into the day, maybe have a jammie dodger (4) or a couple of party rings (3 for 2 rings).
Because it seems daft feeling full but feeling like you should eat a Mars Bar because you have 13 syns left.0 -
Was going to have a good day in my head but:
I started the day with coco pops as there was nothing else in that was readily available except pasta, tomato and basil sauce and lemon curd! some real food is being defrosted whilst I'm at work. AND I've forgotton my lunch so its either spend money I don't really have on something or a tin of sketti from my draw. Tea will be meatballs and pasta. Not sure if I fancy pasta at both meals so may pick something up for lunch
I'm just going to call it as all my syns and probably some that I shall shave off the next few days. I have done lots of body magic over the weekend though!************************************

Morning all
I've got a busy week coming up too, we're eating out 3 times this week! Out for lunch to a Spanish restaurant tomorrow. They usually have fish, chicken and steak on the menu and you get salad to start so should be able to keep it SW.
On Friday we're out for dinner at a friends, but she knows we're doing SW and has done it herself so should also be ok.
Then on Monday its another friends birthday and she particularly wants a Chinese meal. I tend to avoid chinese as I struggle to keep it SW friendly - any suggestions for menu choices anyone?
Having a chuckle at the comments made by the weigh-in person at group. One of the groups I went to had a lady who had been given the job through long service - she'd been attending for years, maintaining for most of them and still in need of losing about 5 stone. She never actually said anything, but her expression if you had a gain was enough to make you feel like a naughty child! I didn't go there for long.
About to have a bowl of leek and vegetable soup, now with lentils in. The weather is much better today so after that I'm going to go for a walk down to the beach bar which is 1km each way, so good BM.
Have a good day - keep warm and stay safe.

Hello again everyone. Had first WI last Thursday and was slightly disappointed to only lose .5lb. But then I did have a heavy weekend before it and only really did the plan for 3.5 days. So, onwards...
This week has been fine. I've eaten tons of food, which feels very wrong, but it's all the right stuff. Have found it easy and allowed myself a few sins a day.
I had Dorset Cereals honey granola for brekkie this morn. It's a huge 6 syns for 25g, and I had 50g, but surely some of it must count as my HEB?
Also, do all classes follow the same format, where the group leader goes around the entire group, one by one, announces how they have done this week and their loss to date and then asks about their week, and what went wrong/right etc? I hated it! But maybe I was sensitive having lost so little!.
Good luck everyone. Have a good week.
