Hiya Lilt. :rotfl: at MFP, it does get irritating but it's the only way I can stop myself just eating, I have far too much of a sweet tooth.
I feel your pain about FIL, mine is a nightmare of epic proportions at times, he's always right and everyone else is wrong. He also likes to talk at the top of his voice about how crap a place is as he's sitting in it/walking through it and also likes to (loudly) disapprove of what everyone else is doing/saying/wearing/how their children are behaving. And this is just complete strangers so it's even worse with people he knows. He used to regularly tell me his opinion about my sister being a single mother of 4, let's just say it wasn't nice. Until I finally snapped and said I wasn't her keeper and it was none of his business anyway. So yes I was glad he didn't visit this time. MIL is a handful as well but at least not as vocally disapproving. :cool:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Your in laws sound delightful... NOT! I feel for you. FIL seems to know everyone and everything... has some horribly outdated 'facts' about the Conservatives and lauds it over everyone at election time because he doesn't understand, or read ANYTHING about the economy, but has decided they are the devil because he was a miner during the strikes donkeys years ago and therefore Thatcher is to blame for everything despite a lot of facts showing otherwise.
I too have a sweet tooth. I have eaten loads of chocolate already so decided to try and fix it with grapes. That hasn't worked at allsomeone told me to eat marmite because it gets rid of it. I find nutella straight from the jar is much nicer...

Yes they're hard work at times, I really don't know how they produced such a nice son!! They are ok in small doses and I just have to live with their bizarre views and behaviour as they're DH's parents! He admits they are strange as well though. :rotfl:
They helped us out big time by giving us the deposit for our house as a gift and I am grateful but they like to use money to try and buy us in some senses i.e. The subtext is we paid the deposit on your house, therefore we are entitled to blah blah blah and you are not grateful enough.
They go a bit huffy with me all the time because they don't think I'm grateful enough. I'm just not a gushy person, I say thank you and move along.
They live quite a distance away (thankfully, as I don't think they could resist interfering in everything we do) and I still feel awkward and unsettled with them after 12 years. It's seriously putting me off ever having children, I dread to think what they'd be like.
 at your FIL Lilt, he sounds fun
Yuck at marmite, Nutella is much nicer! Nothing really replaces sugar for me sadly.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.0 -
I've managed to wean myself onto sweetener in my tea and coffee
have my tea black and my coffee with soya milk and pretend I am healthy
I'm glad my own parents are far away too to be honestmy mum is really interfering. She means well but honestly she tries to tell me how to do EVERYTHING. I lived with them once for 6 months while me and my ex got together a deposit for our house, and we ate out every single night because we just could not touch the cooker. My dad would come in to explain how to use the cooker every night, followed swiftly by mum telling us over and over again that we were cooking wrong, and then dad would be back to watch us eat and check the cooker was still working. Then he would make me put the pans back on the stove with water and washing up liquid in and cook that to 'clean' it. Parents... ugh. Mine or anyone elses
As for not being grateful enough I hate it when 'gift's come with conditions like that. I'd ask them if they wanted me to set up a Direct Debit to pay it back to them since I wasn't grateful enough. And yes I am actually that combative sometimes when people wind me up

I managed to cut the sugar in my tea down to one teaspoon at home and take no sugar in my tea at work, much prefer with sugar though!
Yes parents are hard work! I get on really well with my mum but couldn't live with her again, I like my own space too much.
I know what you mean about "gifts" that come with conditions. It's always implied rather than said so that I look bad if I bring it up and poor DH just gets upset. You've more patience than me. In fact I thought it was sunny today but it turns out it is just the glow from your halo

:rotfl: Lilt, the best part is that I've got a very short fuse in general. :rotfl:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.0

Managed 40 mins of yoga this morning, followed by a half an hour walk into town with DH as we went out for a late lunch/early dinner. Still under my calorie goal for the day so hopefully won't go over now.
Ordered some new scales today which should be delivered tomorrow so will have my first weigh in. Hopefully have lost some weight.
Also ordered some new workout clothes for myself and DH and a yoga block to help me with my practice. Managed to get a decent amount of stuff for under £40. :TSuccess is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Ah workout gear. How I long to buy some... and some of those cute running trainers... alas my whale like proportions do not suit all this lycra currently (if ever!) and I can barely walk properly let alone run!!
Yay for the calorie goal hitting. I thought about using MFP for tracking my carbs but I still can't be bothered. I might have to though as it is strict strict strict!!!
P.S I too have a very short fuse. When I fail to go off like a firework I am accused of not listening

Lycra isn't really a good look for anyone though unless they are really fit/a twig! I just needed an extra sports bra (not sure one is required for yoga but it keeps my chest out of my way so I like to wear one), a couple of tops and a pair of shorts. Shorts are only allowed as I'm not exercising in public, have a real hatred of my bare knees. Bleurgh.
Having a short fuse can be hard going. The men in my work like to wind me up to watch me snap as apparently it's funny. I usually don't bite but sometimes can't help it.My DH does the same tbh. At least if I'm quick to snap I'm usually quick to come out of it too.
Did an hour of yoga this morning and feeling a bit achey. Back to work on late shifts tomorrow and really not looking forward to it after 9 days off.DH is off for another 5 days and the weather is actually nice for once and I'll be stuck in the office until half 11 at night.
DH desperate to get the BBQ out again so guess what I'll be having for dinner. He is washing my car and waxing it all just now though so shouldn't complain.
Potted the last few plants in the garden and have planted some seeds in pots to see if anything grows. Have tried two different types of chillies and the rest are flowers. Probably won't have much success but who knows.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780.
