Welcome to the last flylady thread of 2014

This week we will be starting gently working up to being back on track next week. Welcome aboard if you are new, jump straight in with whichever day you join (don't worry about catching up or reading every post)

May I wish each and everyone of you, regulars, oldies, newbies, returners and lurkers a very Happy 2015 may it be filled with happiness and not too much dust.

.................................................. ...............................................

Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it comes to housework then come and join us.

Thank you Natty for last week's thread

There are 3 levels per day deepening on how much time you have. Feel free to mix and match to suit your own personal circumstances.

Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up.

These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.

Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.

A few of the basics before we start the week

Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!

Back up photos from phone/laptop etc, enjoy looking over some

Hoover any areas in dire need
S&S toilets and sinks if required
Sort out that drawer/cupboard/shelf which has been on your list forever.

Write a list of 5 things you do that make you happy and 5 that make you sad. Ponder on how to do more of the first list and less of the latter.

Friday Hall, stairs, landing and office spaces
15 minutes ....
Eat a frog - can't do it in 15, then take a big chunk out of it or forget the 30 minute jobs.
Got 30 minutes....

15 minutes filing/paperwork sorting/flinging
Empty the bins
Got an hour .........
Hoover and Mop all these areas
Dust all the skirting boards

Wipe any marks from the walls
Put away anything on the stairs or landing
Extras
The pile of stuff you have been meaning to sort for ages - now is the time
Update your Christmas card list when you take your cards down, add in that illusive child's name, make a list of people to contact this month to catch up; make a note in your diary for October as to where you have put the cards you bought in the sale.

A sheepish hello from me :) I so need to organise my house/life, really struggling as I have cfs/me so some days I am so wiped out (have been since Christmas).

I have 2 small children, DS10 has ADHD/ASD and DD4 but very nearly 5, is just a tornado who loves changing her clothes a billion times a day and leaves toys all over! Plus a Hubby who loves to tinker with everything/leaves clothes everywhere (think this is where DD gets it from!) Oh and not to forget the dog!

I think some of the problem is I feel so overwhelmed some days I don't know where to start so just don't bother!
I read a few pages on the last thread - I stayed up wrapping until 7.15am Christmas morning. SHOCK HORROR! I know it's not quite 2015 but I am determined to change so I am enlisting you flyladies to help me, if you don't mind.

I have read the welcome post, do you guys follow that then add a few other bits that you need to do? What is Toot's Master List?
Frog list - is that daily weekly etc? So sorry for all the questions. I'm excited to be on board :D

Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end :)

    Hi Beki88 and welcome.

If you go back to the welcome post, just above Monday's suggested tasks you will see a sentence with a link that tells you all about frogs and the Toots list.

Meanwhile don't forget your baby steps.

Morning all. Thanks for the list Dusty. I am in. Have decided to do the paid stuff this week too although it should be quiet.

Up really early as I couldn't sleep and thought I heard OldDog pacing about but I must have imagined it. Anyway so far today, I have had breakfast, fed the dogs, WUDUPA, and have put the bin out for collection (the lid was frozen down!).

Next is getting my doors clean, getting dressed and making myself look human as I shall be in town part of today with DD and then I'll walk the dogs and do some things from the list. I'll change the bed tomorrow though as I've already made it this morning.

    Have a great day everyone.
Spend less now, work less later.

    Morning all

I will be in this week although I'm not sure what will happen next week when I'm back at work. However my hours are being reduced so I should have an extra hour a day. I need to be strict with myself though and make sure I leave work on time.

Today I want to have a go at sorting my BR out as fingers crossed I think I feel a little bit better today.

    Have a good day all

  • Morning everyone

Is no-one else going to work today - sob - thats not fair!!! Think of me slaving away ...

I finish at 1pm then going shopping straight after work. OH wants something from B&Q I think.

Better get myself moving, looking out there its going to take me a while to get the car defrosted!

Oh and DSs bedroom is by far the worst room in the house so will tackle that later.
