  • I think this was a troll thread from start to end, someones bf sleeps with a prostitute a year earlier, waits 3 weeks to start the thread and then wants to start a debate on the ethics of it all.

Silly season, same as last xmas except the threads arent entitled I got a turkey crown instead of a turkey, can I get compensation.

So why not pay twenty pounds or forty pounds and make a real change to their life rather than pay as little as you can get away with?

How do you know the price wasn't 10p to start with?

Christ if the fella offered that to start with and got negotiated up then he really isn't a keeper!
  • Twenty or forty quid wouldnt make a massive difference to someone who lives in poverty. Long term support to get out of that situation would, anything else is just someone easing their conscience.

I can't see many punters wanting to give long term support in return for a quick knee trembler, India or here.

There are a lot of double standards evident in this thread. Not many people would think twice about paying three quid for a pair of Tesco jeans. I doubt they would quibble their provenance or go home and donate 30 quid to a third world childrens charity, just to be on the safe side.

I buy second hand clothes these days, I try and make ethical fashion and other choices. But I get your point. Theres little difference, suffering is suffering no matter what way you look at it, however I think a lot of people are either desensitised to it or they just don't know, and even if some people knew, they wouldn't care.

Fwiw I wouldn't be too keen on continuing a relationship with someone who'd admitted to sleeping with a third-world prostitute for £1. At least if it were a high-class hooker, there'd be more chance that she was clean. Who knows what he might have picked up from this 'bargain' prostitute.

I think it would be a bit late to be worrying a year in to be honest although to be fair unless the thread is a Jackanory, the OP wouldnt have known, however, people can and do pick up STD's from the first person they sleep with, someone doesnt need to have been around the block to pick up an STD.

Why are you so sure he picked up anything, are you suggesting that everyone who has visited an STI clinic has been with some pro/gigilo?
I was hoping during the thread somone (the OP) would have clarified what the real issue is?
I can only see two possibilities so far
    1) Taken advantage of someone perhaps precarious
    2) Feels 2nd best to someone giving it up (as they may have not been worth the wait) .
I agree with some other posters it seems odd to stew for weeks about something that occured long ago.

I am not sure he picked up anything, but if it were me I would be concerned.

Regarding the 2nd part of your sentence, you surely must realise the risk of someone getting hep C and an array of other diseases and infections is significantly higher for sex-workers (and those who have used them) than it is for people who have not. One of the things they ask you in the questionnaire if you go to give blood is have you slept with a prostitute.

You should NOT give blood for 12 months after sex with...
    • A commercial sex worker.
    • Anyone who has ever injected themselves with drugs.
    • Anyone of any race who has been sexually active in parts of the world where AIDS/HIV is very common.

A cheap prostitute in India could feasibly count for all three of the above^^.

He was putting himself (and by proxy the OP) at huge risk.
