Nic - Congrats on the job! :T
Another miserable day's weather here again. Haven't seen the sun in a while! :rotfl:
Ordered two more presents yesterday. An adult colouring book gift set for my sister in law and a Star Wars t-shirt for my brother. Hopefully they'll arive sometime next week.
Hope you're all as well as can be xxx“In 900 years of time and space, I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important”

If anyone needs chocolate oranges, I noticed that all flavours are currently £1 (exploding candy, original, dark, honeycomb) in Mr T though I'm not sure how long the offer is on for.
Our Christmas market starts tomorrow for the next almost-6 weeks and whilst it is lovely and makes the whole place smell festive, it halves the amount of space on the pavements just as the numbers of shoppers increases so it also does my head in!
Will have to try and get in soon to have a mulled wine and a hotdog while I watch everyone else run around like crazy people :rotfl:
I keep buying them for pressies and then eating themEvening. Hope you are all having a good Friday.
I'm so excited, infact I may have already said but don't think I have been on. But I got a job. I have been searching for the perfect job to do with 3 kids. Finally I got one last week. It's as a catering assistant (dinner lady) in a local school. Working 11:30-2:30 with the option to start earlier. Means I will be home for the kids and be off every holiday :-) :-)
It's a permanent job too. I have struggled for years working in pubs and as a carer. Both meant I was out in the evening and weekends or early starts. Also unreliable shifts.
The only thing is the length of time it seems to take for the council to organise the paperwork, so it may be after Christmas before I start.
Picked up some books from The Book people. Got 12 Enid Blyton Mallory towers books for my DD, hope she likes them as I loved them all. and a huge All you need to know about Star Wars for my DS.
Also picked up a candle bridge with flickering lights from The Range today. I've always wanted a nice light at my hall window at Christmas.
Also got a couple of tartan throws for my couches, just £2.99 each.
Well done on the job!freespirit66 wrote: »Evening everyone, i have had a lovely day, went with DD1 to swap her work car and on the way back we decided to pop into poundland, when we saw signs for The Range, so we decided to have a nosey in there first, we usually go to the one in town the other side of our village so knew this was fairly new, it had actually only been open 2 hours, it is really big and had some gorgeous home stuff, oh i need to win that lottery :rotfl:i got a pair of white glittery stags, one standing and one sitting for £5 (ideal for another craft project i have seen on pinterest, though will probably be next christmas now:D) some snow spray (i have this idea of spraying my real tree to look like a snowy one this year but a) not sure how it will look and if it sticks and b) not sure if it would be safe with Thumper being so little and getting into/touching everything, im worrying he would get some in his mouth) what do you all think? Then in Poundland i got my ceiling decs they only had 2 packets left so i was lucky, and some walnut whipswe were then feeling so christmassy with the christmas songs being played we decided to go to HB where i bought packs of pic n mix style sweets for the table presents, and bits like the foil turkey tray, doilies etc
MURIE aww thankyouyes not too bad slowly coming off 24lbs now. I hope your back feels a bit better today, that is why i have to do mine as i buy them, one christmas when the twins were babies and my DD1 was 2 i wrapped for hours and hours all at once and my back completely went i had to crawl to the toilet and my sister had to look after the kids for a couple of days because i was immobile, never again, lesson learnt
Yes i think that is it exactly, i was nearly in tears tonight over nothing, just completely silly and i think like you say we invest so much into it throughout the year, we are so organised and then we feel flat for some reason!
MJ132 sorry i cant help, i agree with kissmenow though about trying amazon
KISSMENOW and BREATHE........... :rotfl:you have plenty of time
WHITESATIN aww the grandkids will love a festive bedroom! The only other things i can think of for your friend is maybe a magazine/book? What a lovely thoughtful friend you are!
ELLIE oh no what a shame about your angel topper you shall just have to go back to The Range nowI hope your eye recovers enough between now and new year! I love the sainsburys advert, that got me teary as well :rotfl:
LAZYSHEEP ooh i love sipping on mulled wine while at a christmas market!
NIC congratulations on the new job! Perfect hours with the kids!
I think the trouble is I start uni in January and I'm trying to organise everything for there (haven't got accommodation sorted yet and won't find out until December  for example) so I'm looking past Christmas and getting worried that I'll forget about Christmas! And I'm ridiculously busy on top of that anyway - next weekend I'm in London for my Uncles birthday going to see Les Mis with all the family, the weekend after that I'm in Lincoln for a concert, the weekend after that is my work Christmas do, the weekend after that is one of only two weekends that I now have free before Christmas, and the weekend after that is my last one at work  and then I'm off to Bruges, and then it's Christmas!
I might tackle making the crackers this afternoon£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January0 -
Evening everyone:wave:
Nothing Christmasy happening on my end this week. Our heating broke at the start of the week which then lead to us having to get a new heating system put in:mad: So there's £1800 had to go out without even managing to leave the house _pale_
It's in now and have to say the workman done a clean job so I really can complain, I've been up in the attic yesterday and today cleaning up, dumping rubbish and having a general tidy up.
I've came across a load of toys that I bought i the sales last year and during the summer for the annual kids appeal in the shopping center, so hoping that will be up and running soon so I can get rid of those and give me some more space back. Found a load of Gift bags that I'll use to put them in too so less wrapping and they're getting re-used
We were supposed to be surprising the kids by going down to the city center to watch the Christmas tree light get turned on, however it's lashing here so we're not bothering. Kids don't know any different, and I don't like our Christmas tree in there anyway as it's that embarrassing and pathetic looking.
Going to go have a nice cup of tea now and relax for the rest of the night. I've done enough today :rotfl:Pay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0 -
MJ132: We send to the states every year, often things that can be personalised and printed over that side of the pond. Canvas prints/mugs etc are easy - things like Christmas ornaments for the tree, sending a little bit of England over always goes down well too. Betties Tea Rooms ships internationally, as well or you can make a package up of things (not foods!) - it can work out cheaper.

Brr it's cold and miserable here. Glad I'm in for the night. Plan to have a couple of gins and watch some Christmas movies once the kids are in bed.
Thank you for the job congrats. I always feel so down going into the new year. I feel a failure at another year with no decent job or prospects. Hopefully this year I can feel more confident.
Wonder if the Coke advert is on X factor tonight? I don't usually watch X factor but might just to feel xmassy if it's to be on. Anyone know? X:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
Just realised I told a big Fat lie earlier on :rotfl::o My apologies, I've just came across the bag:o Bought 2 of each of these perfume baubles for the kid's teachers and assistant's to go along withh their little glass decorations I am getting engraved. £5 for each one,so £7 each for each person's gifts. Happy enough with that, usually I spend £10 each on them:T

Hi all, wow you are all doing so well with your Christmas prep! I haven't done loads as I haven't been too well, then Wiggle got a bad cold on Thursday and last night was awful, DH and I only got 3 hours sleep. We spent a couple of hours at an NHS walk-in centre this morning and found out he's also got an ear infection so now has antibiotics for it. It didn't seem like just a normal cold so i'm glad we got him seen and he now has some medication. Not sure what tonight is going to be like but we'll take it as it comes. But the awful tragedy in Paris puts things in perspective and we realise our night was nowhere near as bad as some were having. We were all supposed to be going up to Gloucestershire for a big family meal for my Grandma's birthday tomorrow and I was making the birthday cake but we're not going now as it's not fair on Wiggle. We only hope he is better for our holiday on Monday.
mrs-moneypenny those stockings are lovely.
Peppapig that is fantastic news for your DH.
nic congratulations on your new job! :T
My Tesco order came so I now have new pj's for everyone for our Christmas Eve hamper and a Christmas jumper for Wiggle. My miniature bottles of Baileys came too so they're tucked away. I've also ordered a stocking filler for DH and a present for my FiL so waiting for them to come now and i've added a few bits I need to our Tesco order. I much prefer ordering online to wandering the shops all the time and getting frustrated!0
