Finished making my christmas wreath today, need to do something with the ribbon and it does look far better than the photo. DS thinks it's hilarious

It's beautiful! Maybe a big bow for the ribbon at the bottom? The two dangly bits could be the tails? If you loop a few bits of ribbon together it would make a chunkier bow like this

Just to try and keep it in proportion with the rest of the wreath?

Can I just warn you all of the dangers of starting early and not keeping an eye on how much you are buying and having a tardis like cupboard to keep things in....

Mandco what a terrible and unexpected loss. I am so sorry my lovely xxx

Thank you all for your well wishes to DH, he is thankfully home but in a foul mood :rotfl:I think it's a combination of being tired, frustrated that he needs to stay in bed and sadly he's now paranoid that he can't do anything without risking his heart being put out of rhythm. I know he is worried about how much he will physically be able to do once the baby arrives, but I know we will be fine, we always are :)

I need your advice! I need a joint gift for a couple in their late 30s (with 4 children!) budget of £10 and a token gift for a 19 year old male (only interests are science and computer games) £5 budget and a couple in their early 20s £5 budget. None drink and the older couple can be a wee bit snobby about things. I am determined to cut down on the amount we spend on gifts this year, so I'm really trying to do most of our purchases with the £100 love to shop vouchers! I'm also taking the easy way out and buying amazon vouchers for a lot of people as I don't want the stress of thinking and wrapping ;) I know it sounds terrible (and I feel a bit guilty) but with having everything in storage since July and the fact I will be 8 months pregnant by Christmas, I think I have a valid excuse ;)

  • Fiesty I do like that bow and will try when it is time to hang up. I showed DS and he said hopefully I can do it big enough that nobody see's the wreath. Last time I have a go at something!
  • Mandco - I have a friend whose father, whilst visiting them and sat on the sofa with the grandchildren, also just 'fell asleep'. The grandchildren were young and took it that Grandad had fallen asleep and wouldn't wake up again. My friend was in terrible shock for quite a long time, on top of the grief she struggled with. You need to just take things one day at a time: look after you and yours and leave everything and everyone else until you're up to it. Don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it. Heartfelt wishes x
  • Feisty - Other than the usual biscuits/chocolates etc., I can come up with:
For the couple with children: a nice Christmas tree decoration - I have bought them for gifts from The White Company. They are pricey but there's usually a 15% discount code somewhere around and you can gift box it nicely. Even though it's only one decoration, the company should fit with those who buy from 'nicer' stores!!
For the teenage boy - have you seen those clocks that look like they've been 'melted'. They look like a normal silver, round, kitcheny clock-type of thing but have been introduced to heat and the bottom section has dropped down. Anyway (!), my youngest son (14) likes sciency stuff and he likes this type of thing. I've seen they normally retail around £10, but if you look around I've also seen them on offer for about £5-6.
For the younger couple, (might be a bit racy!) but, what about a bottle of nice massaging lotion - or a his and hers one?
Wouldn't worry about giving Amazon vouchers for the rest - I think most people would like to buy themselves something that they couldn't justify otherwise.
    Glad DH's home. Take care.

Being a bit cheeky I am after some suggestions. A few years back for dd2, I noticed that I would buy the teacher something and noticed that behind the scenes staff, ppa cover etc never really got a look in and so instead bought a load of different packet biscuits for the staff room. I know even the dinner lady goes in because she thanked us. I have always but it in a box turned into a sleigh but want to do something different this year. I don't want to put it in a basket as the idea is DD2 helps make it.
Don’t put it down - put it away!

Dear mandco, I was so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. Sending you lots of love and hugs.

Pinksteps, is it made of pom poms? It must have taken you ages, well done, it looks lovely.

IrishRose12, I love love love that coupe, I so wish my girls were little again, it would have been perfect for my dd14, she was always a little fairy princess, now she's a great gallumphing teenager.

BBRosie, wow that is a lot of presents. Your children will certainly have a lovely day. I love to see a big pile of pressies under the tree but it's harder now they are bigger and the gifts are smaller but more expensive :D.

Well, I've wrapped up all the presents that have come so far, I think I have bought all the new decorations I wanted for this year as well. I've just ordered pyjamas for the girls for Christmas Eve and now I have to try and find some gifts for my hubby. He is a nightmare to buy for as he just gets what he wants when he sees it if you know what I mean. He likes gadgetty bits and pieces so if anyone has any great ideas I'm all ears :D.
